For those who believe Snow was a good "drafter"
2011, Ryan Strome (fifth overall): The Isles envisioned Strome turning into a 2A center behind Tavares, and had they chosen any one of the next three skaters taken, they would've had such a player. The three picks after Strome, in order: Mika Zibanejad, Mark Scheifele, and Sean Couturier. Ouch.

2012, Griffin Reinhart (fourth overall): Peter Chiarelli's poor judgment bailed the Islanders out on this one, as Reinhart would eventually be swapped to Edmonton for the pick that would turn into Barzal. Nonetheless, if the Islanders were looking to bolster their blue line, they could not have been more off in their evaluation of this draft class' defensemen. Morgan Rielly, Hampus Lindholm, Matt Dumba, and Jacob Trouba made up four of the next five picks.

2013, Ryan Pulock (15th overall): Pulock has the makings of a solid NHL defenseman, which is fine relative to the draft slot. Snow gets a pass here.

2014, Michael Dal Colle (fifth overall): Much like the Reinhart pick, the Isles valued size and strength with this pick rather than speed and skill. Dal Colle did dominate junior in his draft year, but good scouting would've recognized that William Nylander (eighth overall) or Nikolaj Ehlers (ninth) had brighter NHL futures

Drafting and developing along with picking lousy coaching and staff gets Garth an F.

I agree, although I did think he got off to an ok start in 2008 when he began the rebuild by trading down to select Josh Bailey and garner draft picks to re-stock the cupboard which was left bare.......first and foremost by Milbury......then by the Committee. A lot of people criticized him for not selecting Filatov or Luke Schenn with the 5th overall pick.

It's everything that came after that brought about his demise.....

He was also criticized for taking Bailey that high.

Yeah, I think I was one of them. I seem to recall Bailey was supposed to go roughly 10 picks later in most of the mock drafts. But Bailey has turned out to be an acceptable 9th overall pick (not a great one, not a good one, just acceptable). Whereas some of the others who went before him (like Filatov, like L. Schenn) not so good....

Garth lover.

2008 was a good draft for Garth. He should have retired after that draft.

You are leaving out years of Bailey hate for doing pretty much nothing. I am pretty sure if JT walks we will see the old Bailey again.

I did like trading down to get more picks to restock after the Mike Milbury fire sale. "Welcome to Mad Mike's where everything must go!"

Guy gets an F in everything. He made some good moves here and there but over a 12 year peeiod everything is a gigantic, stinking, putrid (frank)ing F.

I was one of them. I was completely wrong about Filatov bit with that said I will never high five him for Bailey. His contract will be just as bad as clutterbuck's and in all honesty I think Bailey is completely overrated and sucks. Bailey is jist another example of the garbage that was rammed down fans throats to try and convince them everything was just perfect in islanders country when I'm reality it was a (frank)ing disaster. A season in a half of decent play from a wildly inconsistent player 8 years after getting drafted does not deserve accolades IMO. Well, i hope you like him bcs were stuck with him.

I wanted Couturier & Nylander. So, yeah, Snow sucks! Am I allowed to call him an idiot, or will I get banned?

Yup, I was one of the Bailey haters. I sometimes wonder whether he would have survived, if the Isles had a GM and head coach who demanded defensive accountability of the forwards and {gasp} physical play (!). Imagine if Tortorella were the coach and he watched Bailey's ole, half-assed, poke check defense that led to an odd man rush?

Nope, not a Bailey fan. I think you're getting me mixed up with someone else on this Board..........someone who has been strangely absent for the past couple months.

I wanted Courtier also but I was excited about Strome in all honesty especially after his rookie season. Winnipeg was blasted for picking Scheifele from what I remember that worked out well for them.

I still don't get what happened. He looked good as a rookie. I though he would start playing better once he got away from Crappy, but he never recovered.

Another example of the Islanders, Butch Goring, and everyone trying to sell the fan base a false reality. Defensive expert, specialist extrodinaire Josh Bailey

He is the epitome of a player that plays on a team that demanded nothing from its players. It's going to be an absolute shock to these pussies systems when they start getting chewed out. I can't wait to see some of them get jettisoned. Bailey is gone in a season IMO

We'll see who Lou hires, but I am pretty sure the team will be re-introduced to the finer points of playing defense next season. A bunch of them are probably not going to like it.

One can only hope! Fingers crossed. But as you said in your previous post, Bailey just got a contract extension that will make him difficult to get rid of. Nevertheless, if anyone can, Lou can!

The news we have been waiting for for years finally happened and the euphoria lasts less than 24hrs. And the thread is back to Bailey sucks.

I think there will be a lot of players crying and getting a dose of harsh reality once the new coach comes to town.

Oh stop with whining about perceived whining. Discussing a players worth is not whining. You are actually whining. The discussion is connected to our new GM poh and how he won't put up with lackadaisical bs.
