Both were brutal. Garth had more stable owners and Milbury probably would not have minded a couple of years of Malkin being owner. Garth rubbed me the wrong way more than Milbury.
- ses111

I agree Ses, I think Milbury had no money to work with. Especially in comparison to the last four years that Garth has had. I don’t think Milbury was great but I think Garth was worse.

I vote for Milbury as slightly worse. It's ok to lose a trade, but Milbury lost nearly EVERY trade.

Milbury had no money during the first 5 years. But Wang opened his wallet and told him to spend. So he spent $90 million on Alexei Yashin........and traded Chara, the 2nd overall pick (Spezza) and Bill Mukalt for the privilege.

Debateable. They are both complete opposites but equally as bad in their own right IMO.
- Cptmjl

As bad as Snow was, Milbury was 10 times worse. Milbury’s track record on trades alone makes him a bottom 3 GM of all time. Snow May have failed at a lot of things but he had a better track record drafting and making deals when he actually did.

That’s being said, simply because Snow was better than Milbury does not mean that he was a good GM. He was just a less smelly turd than Milbury was.

Other than the Mike Peca and Jason Blake trades, name one other that Milbury won.

Milbury had to dump players to shed salary that Garth did not have to do. I hate to make it seem I'm making excuses for Milbury but he had it worse than Garth. Milbury had owners working against him while it was mostly Garth sinking himself.

Argh! I hate this debate! Would you rather be burned alive or fall off a cliff on to jagged rocks?

They were both (frank)ing horrible! Who cares which was worse.

Was he a free agent? Or did Milbury trade for him? I agree that Aucoin was a good pick up.

Let's end this debate and back to chatting about how Lou will fix this team.

It's the Red Wing fan's fault. Just for that, I hope the Red Wings continue to stink.

I’ll never forget, Ziggy was due a new contract and I believe the Islanders Payroll was ~22 million at the time and the owners wanted him to cut the payroll under 20 million.

I’m going to say seeing L and M come through with the rights to Belmont, bringing in Lou L and today firing Snow. I think this franchise is on the road to success and with that will come profitability

Better to be on a worse team that misses the playoffs by an even wider margin!
