No interest in Reimer. Elliott is fine as a bridge until one of the younger prospects can take over.
- MJL

I'm really not sold on that. I know, I know, he was fine before he got injured, came back too early, yadda, yadda, yadda. He's not getting any younger. I wish there was a better option.

Maybe Edmonton at #10?
- BiggE

So if Simmonds gets you #10, do you do it?

I mean the Bruins got the 13th pick+ for (frank)ing Milan Lucic, but I can't imagine Simmonds gets you that high of a draft pick. I also don't know what I'm talking about soooooo
- Ftown19125

The Bruins got 13, Colin Miller and Martin Jones. Lucic was 26 I beleive so that helped.

I don't.

If they're going to move Simmonds it should be for someone who can play right away. Simmonds is worth more than "future potential."

imho, of course

Yeah I didn't really look too much into it. I saw he had a few down years though prior to getting traded.

Agree. I would really work to get a young NHL vet to help now and moving forward for Simmonds.

Have to look at it in full context. Without getting into a longer term contract or giving up quality assets, how can you improve the position? With top prospects in the system, Elliott is the kind of player considering all the factors that you want as a bridge.

That's a tough call, it depends on who is still on the board. If any of my top 7 are still on the board, I'd probably do the deal. I think there is a slight drop off after those 7. Not so much in regards to potential, but more in regards to being stone cold locks to be good to very good NHL players. They guys I rate 2-7 on my list are those types of players (Dahlin, IMO, is a stone cold lock to be an all star), the next bunch are guys with tons of potential, but no guarantees. I'm not moving Simmonds for that type of prospect.

Absolutely. But he's probably not getting you that right now coming off all the injuries.

I wouldn't. This team has some of the best prospects in the league. While it's always nice to add more lottery tickets, this team needs to start moving forward now. If I'm moving Simmonds, there needs to be a piece coming back that can play now, not a piece that may be ready in 2-3 years and likely won't be an impact player for 4-5 years, if ever.

Hockey sense. Hughes just seems to be able to make smarter decisions and make them faster than Boqvist. That's huge at the NHL level.

edit: Ty Smith is a guy that's really grown on me recently. He's used in all situations and succeeds in all as well. He's not the tallest guy but he has a thick build, is a very good skater, highly skilled and very smart. He has potential to be a player similar to Kimmo Timonen, IMO.

- BiggE

I guess I see Hughes as a bit more complete, but I watched mostly Bryans stuff from Boqvist. Raw talent I think Boqvist is good enough to be there in the conversation though. I don't see much of a drop between the two

Yes, that's why I said I wish there were better options.

Andre Lacroix is still one of my all time favorites. I was really fortunate to have seen those opening years of the franchise thanks to my Dad who purchased season tickets through the mid-seventies. Just hearing the name made my day that much better. Thanks Andre and thanks Bill.

If Farabee is there, then prob yeah. I know it would be nice to have immediate help for Simmonds deal but a solid LW prospect would be great. Especially if Allison pans out on the right side.

If you move Simmonds for 10 you could make a serious push to get into the top 3, as Simmonds really wasn't a fit for any of them right now. Just a thought.

Disagree u need an upgrade over all the current goalies they employ right now

Maybe the younger goalies don’t pan out. Need to prepare for that as well

Watching the finals I think keeping Simmonds might be in the Flyers best interest. Obviously he was injured this season and I think he'll bounce back next year. His grit and toughness come playoff time is really underrated.

This is what will likely happen. I don't see Hextall moving Simmonds at this draft unless he is blown away with an offer, and with Simmonds coming off an injury, I just don't see that happening.

Big fan of Alex Bohm, 3rd overall pick of the Phillies last night. Sixto is doing work still and heck even Moniak has had a good couple weeks

Seems like a good pick, it's so hard to tell with baseball though. The difference between college ball and the majors could be measured in light years!

I mean that is obvious. It has to be a no brainer type of deal. I still think the Flyers will do something. Maybe it's Gudas for a 3rd rounder. Could Laughton get you a late 1st rounder or early 2nd rounder where then maybe you get get Farabee at 14, Miller at 19 and Berggren with the acquired pick?

I do see some options for the Flyers because they do have some depth. If laughton were to be moved you have Vecchione as an internal option.
