I think a “throw in” might be too harsh though
I’m guessing they thought he might reclaim his potential if he was coached by Roy again

I agree generally though
Definitely wasn’t on the same level as Zadorov at the time

- jdfitz77

Throw in is the verbatim phrase used by the BSN guys from what they heard from their sources.

Buffalo did not want him, Avs didnt need him to be part of the deal, Sabres wanted to throw him in regardless

Not really a fair comparison, as Reinhart is the beatboxer and Galchenyuk is the spitter

Girgensons with a 1st round pedigree >> Scott Wilson in terms of trade value.

There is always a GM or coach who liked a guy his draft year.

We saw Murray with Kulikov, Bogo etc

- sbroads24

Sure...
but what could we get for him now?
A 3rd maybe?
U think more?

Damn
Obviously Grigorenko had struggled with us
I guess his stock dropped quite a bit

I kinda see Nylander the same way right now for us
Hopefully he will still work out
But i can’t see him having much trade value at the moment

No clue, but more than the average 3rd/4th liner who puts up 15 points, is what my point is.

I mean, after a certain point that goes away, and Girgensons is reaching that point, but it wouldn't surprise me if Girgensons as part of a package got a good return. Most likely as a secondary peice

Or a similar player, with similar draft pedigree that hasn't panned out either.

Again, all it takes is one guy coach or GM that really liked him his draft year or something stupid like that

His contract was so mismanaged that he needed to sign a new deal off his ELC but had to pass through waivers if he didnt make it out of camp.

Basically you had to sign Grigo with the intention that he is a lock on your roster next year. Clearly Sabres did not see that at all, so getting him to sign you probably would have to give him that guarantee or he goes back to the KHL, my guess is they wanted to get out of that situation anyway that they could

I think it’s passed
Can’t imagine a team views him as having top6 potential anymore

Tough for me to imagine anything better than a mid-round pick for him

If he’s part of a package,
i think he’s more a “throw in” than a piece of significant value

Best i could imagine another team see out of him is a defensive forward for line3
I don’t think those types have much value
Not unless you’re a dominant faceoff guy like Gaustad
(even though i know u think faceoffs don’t matter, lol)

It could have, but even if a team viewed as a young top 9 peice, it's worth more than a 4th or 5th rounder.

Again, I'm not defending him as a player or saying we will get a 2nd for him, my point is that he's more valiable than a Scott Wilson, despite similar production

3/5ths of our team is this guy.

We should try other this guys though.

Maybe some of them will be better guys. The this guys we have are not the guys we need

More valuable than Wilson, sure
But i can’t see him having much value as far as bringing us a player/prospect back

I know value is a relative term
So yeah, i guess he has some
I wouldn’t say it’s “good value” though

I didn't need sources to know this as most other Sabres fans didn't either but thanks for posting this so maybe common sense comes to us all.
