That's not how it works.

What would you think of trading the 3rd and one the 2nd along with McCarron to the Islanders for their 2 1st rounders and Dal Colle?

You can draft 2 C with those picks (Hayton & Veleno) or Dobson if he's still available along with one of the C

Add 3 top end prospects instead of 1? Would Long Island agree to that?

I don't know Colle. I would not trade the 3rd overall unless I'm blown away.

Dal Colle was picked 5th overall in 2014, he's a LD.... Not sure I'd do that either but it gives them an opportunity to add real solid prospects at multiple positions

I would most likely trade Pacioretty, Byron or 2 2nd rd picks to get other picks in the first round. I would take calls on Weber.

The thing is that we need that 3rd overall pick to get better. We can't afford to screw it up. It's the safest bet to get this team better. Mtl does not pick that high year in and year out. Keep the pick.

Oh for sure adding a 2nd pick without dealing the 3rd overall would be a much better scenario and probably more likely to happen... And absolutely I'd take calls on Weber, it's been mentioned before but no question Edmonton gives them the 10th + for Weber

Was just a generalization, not specific. They were saying with kane's 7X7 (steep), perhaps a trade for Patches might be a better deal, especially if they can get a decent sign and trade contract.

Marchessault's attempt at ridiculing Barry Trotz at practice is just piling on with all the other reasons I want to see the Golden Knights lose.

I hate that team. I certainly would cheer the leafs on over Vegas

So, Timmins saying Habs are not looking for an immediate solution at the draft...also said he likes younger guys (code).

And this:

Grant McCagg @grantmccagg

Zadina finished top 25 in two out of the 20 categories. As one scout noted to me..."No power."

As of 12:20, Kotkaniemi was top 25 in 14 of 20 tests, and top 17 in 11 categories.

If they really want Kotkaniemi, I hope they at least trade back and get some assets for the pick...don't think that guy should be taken with the 3rd overall.

Yeah well, he hasn't made questionnable picks in the last few years (since McCarron) so let's hope he keeps it that way. You can't afford a mistake with the 3rd overall pick.

It would be really interesting to see the assets coming back on top of drafting Kotkaniemi if they were to trade down...
