I’d rather move Eberle or Bailey, and that’s not just the Lee fan boy speaking. Eberle is gonna require at least 7 to retain. Bailey, while useful, is still inconsistent and more a complimentary player than a driver. IMO neither he nor Eberle can do what Lee does, while both of them are similar enough that losing one wouldn’t be critical.
Perhaps I’m overly optimistic, but I’m thinking Lee could be signed to a 6x6 deal. That’d make him only 33/34 come deals end, during which time I’m fairly confident he’d still be productive enough to justify it, especially given the current rate of contract inflation. - Wildschwein
I would be fine with moving Bailey schwein. The problem is Bailey is a play maker and JT likes to have him as a wing.I'm just not sure how the Isles upgrade the D without moving a forward and Nelson alone will not do it. I just love trades are a real option again with Lou in charge. |

Totally agree. If you have to move Ebs, Bailey, or Lee, it's Bailey by a mile. Eberle and Lee are much better than Bailey. The only thing Bailey has going for him is being good buddies with JT. |

Nelson won’t, but Nelson AND Eberle/Bailey might. Should the Islanders actually acquire Kovy, then moving those two plus one of the 1st’s should provide enough value for a significant upgrade on D. |

As I remember that whole situation Lou was supportive of his decision to go. Wasn't there some other motive for Lou wanting him gone besides shedding salary? Can't remember but I thought there was some silver lining for the devils albeit a small one. - Cptmjl
Probably the fact that the team with no money didn't have to continue paying him that bloated contract for another god-knows-how-many years |

And he’s also signed to rather inexpensive deal with term and no NMC/NTC’s. |

Agreed I believe that contract is going to suck real quick. I have no faith in Bailey maintaining consistency I'm just not a fan I know some may disagree with me. |

Kovy’s contract was heavily backloaded if I recall correctly. Almost cripplingly so. |

Holy Christ! He was signed for 6.6 till 2025! - Wildschwein
That’s impossible. Lou doesn’t make mistakes! |

I really don't want Kovalchuk on the islanders. League is about speed and youth. |

Well to be fair, Kovy would likely have been a top 6 winger for 2/3rds of that contract.
Snow on the other hand, signed Ladd long term and for only slightly less coin, and he’ll likely never be a top 6 winger during said contract. |
