I have no issue moving Lee in the right deal. I worry about giving Lee a long term big money deal.

It could be? There is some risk involved with it of course. Two years at 4 million per is what I would be comfortable with but I bet he'll get 5 or 6 per for three yrs which I'm not. We're not going to have much room if we sign Tavares.

I agree with cpt. I would not want to overpay for a 35-year old slow Russian who doesn't like to play defense. And you'd better backload the contract after the way Kovy phukked Lou and the Devils. I am still kind of surprised to read that Lou and Kovy have this great relationship.

I’d rather move Eberle or Bailey, and that’s not just the Lee fan boy speaking. Eberle is gonna require at least 7 to retain, and Bailey, while useful, is still inconsistent and more of a complimentary player than a driver. IMO neither he nor Eberle can do what Lee does, while both of them are similar enough that losing one wouldn’t be critical.

Perhaps I’m overly optimistic, but I’m thinking Lee could be signed to a 6x6 deal. That’d make him only 33/34 come deals end, during which time I’m fairly confident he’d still be productive enough to justify it, especially given the current rate of contract inflation.
