I can see them winning game 5 at home, but I don't see them winning game 6 - let alone game 6 and 7.

We'll see what happens in the 3rd, but it looks like they are out matched.

The Caps have a lot of momentum right now. Assuming they hold on to this lead tonight, I could see them winning Game 5, although I fully expect VGK to come out really strong again........like they did tonight. If they can bury a few of the shots they've blown tonight, VGK will send it to Game 6. That's about as far as I think it could go.

Yeah, the Knights will fight back on Thursday, but I don't think they will have enough to win the cup. It sucks the last games are so spread out.

Anybody else notice it's taking the Florida Blogger forever to do the Islander trade partner blog, I wonder if this groups pending invasion has anything to do with it?

I'm guessing this is old news for you Islanders fans, but this just came across my radar.

What the frank is Ronkonkoma, and why the frank do they need a 17,500 seat arena?

I can't wait for the Islanders/Ronkonkoma Coyotes rivalry - should be a good one.

I can't figure out what the (frank) the point of putting that arena in would be

It's near a small regional aiport, so uh...there's that. Otherwise, Ronkonkoma is pretty much a town that nobody really wants to be in.

They're definitely trying to put an arena there. Nothing is set in stone.

https://www.newsday.com/l...arena-proposal-1.18835900

Suffolk legislative committee voted to support the project last week.

No idea why they feel it's necessary to put a 17,500 seat arena that has no professional sports team there though.

Something like a 5,000 seat arena I could see serving some sort of purpose, but a full-size NHL arena is (frank)ing insane.

Could one of the local teams move their AHL team there? I cant figure out why they'd put a 17k person arena in Ronkokoma.......its the last stop for phuck sakes

In case you were thinking the Islanders would move there:

“We have no real knowledge of what’s going on in Suffolk,” Islanders co-owner Jon Ledecky said Monday. “It’s not relevant to us.”

Or maybe relocate another NHL team:

“I’m fairly certain that our Board of Governors would have no interest in, nor would they support, adding a fourth team — either by expansion or relocation — in the New York metropolitan area,” Daly said.

So how 'bout an AHL team?

An American Hockey League spokesman said Long Island is within the territorial rights of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the Islanders’ AHL affiliate and the team can veto any potential move here by another franchise.

After further investigation, it looks like the classic developer bait and switch:

https://www.newsday.com/l...arena-proposal-1.18835900

The centerpiece of the plan is a hockey arena, but JLL’s 76-page proposal does not identify possible tenants. The New York Islanders, who are developing their own plans for a new arena in Belmont Park, and the National Hockey League have said they have no interest in the Ronkonkoma plan.

John Cameron, of Woodbury-based Cameron Engineering & Associates, which is helping JLL develop the complex, said Wednesday the firm is seeking potential tenants, and the plan could change if potential partners are not found.

“The two toughest elements to finance are the arena and the convention center, we know that,” he told legislators before the vote. “If there’s no takers for the arena, it’s possible we come back with no arena.”

Suck in the morons with a glitzy proposal, then 12 months late scale it back to a 1,500 seat arena - which you can herald as a benefit to the community, since kids and adult hockey leagues can use it.

It's a major LIRR hub (and, yes, the last stop of that line) but there's plenty of highway access to that area as well. Super easy to get there from the LIE or Sunrise. It's a very accessible area.

But it's absolutely ridiculous to build an arena that big with no professional team is insanity. I could see an AHL team potentially going there, but not to a 17k+ arena, that's just a massive waste of money/space.
