My suggestion was a trade involving Nelson, and Kovulchuk was his replacement in pt production. I guess it all really depends on cost and what a guy like JVR would get in pay. 7 per is too much, but if they can sign JVR and Kovulchuk to bonus laden contracts it could work. Im just happy to see some semblance of order happening, instead of the same old same old. The fact that Lou's presence makes the isles a destination spot really opens up a ton of possibilities. Aquiring assets without giving up anything is a major factor in wheeling and dealing.

Ok, that's a little extreme, but man I won't miss that guy at all. He plays with the tenacity of an anesthetized koala and consistently disappears for the entire second half of the season.

I think, if they do ultimately sign him, Kovalchuk will be the lone addition up front. I think the 3rd line RW and 4th line LW will be filled by cheap in-house options.

And I'm also super-excited about the direction in which things are heading. We're not there yet, but we're getting on the right track for sure.

Kovy is 35 years old and hasn't played in the NHL in years. I have no interest in him signing for 7 mill a year for Isles. I think it will be Ladd 2.

those of you who are giving up on Brock Nelson I just want to point out that he is about the same age this summer (26/27) as Okposo and Bailey when they finally started to figure it out. I don't like to give up on a young guy. He has actually had more success than they had at this point in their careers stats wise. I think Brock is going to have a break out year. Especially if he has a better coach who holds his feet to the fire a bit when he has a bad shift.

Yeah, I was disillusioned for a while by his lack of fear to call the organization out but it got old after a while.

Pretty sure they used to have Dan Friedman writing for them, who should be #1 on everyone's do not follow list.

I don't think he's got a chance of making the team out of camp unless he is absolutely flawless, and even then I highly doubt he'd get a spot. Barzal blew everyone's doors off at his first camp and they only kept him around the team to watch a few games before sending him back to junior. Bellows isn't even remotely close to as highly regarded as Barzal was, so the chance of him making the team is minuscule.

BTW, I guess BDG is one of EK's high level sources or at least confirms the BS he's spewing


On Tavares...

Talked to a source today who confirmed what our own BD Gallof said yesterday...that Tavares is now more likely to stay on the Island than leave...Many in the Canadian media continue to call it "less than 50/50 odds he stays in the Island past July 1....I would put it at close to 60% he stays and than number is trending upward...
