Jim - DO NOT try and speed up your rebuild taking short cuts and filling age gaps. If Carolina is looking to move big H they must have a reason. Draft, develop. If you can move Beartschi + Hutton then by all means.

Yeah Bergevin's history of moves makes no sense. He's continually made his team older, slower, and badder by trading his best assets for everything but the thing he needs, which is one of those guys who can play center.

He made a ton of "win now" moves without really trying to win now

Hanifin for 7 th and Eriksson

I'd trade the 7th for him straight up. If you're getting similar upside with a dman at that spot why not just trade for a guy who you know isn't a bust and still offers similar upside? That's a no-brainer. The only thing you lose out on is cost-controlled years, but that's a trade off I can live with since this team is desperate for a young top 4 dman. Plus you still have Juolevi in the system and can draft a dman in the 2nd round.

I'm 100% against adding a top prospect to go along with that pick for just Hanifin though.
