Do you trust Chia to win a trade where he gets over paid ?

I dont think you mess with RNH/McDavid as a duo... I think you focus on finding Drai a partner like that and try to add a guy like Pulock from the Island.

As a 4th C I don't think you could ask for much more

I mean you can and will, but logically speaking he's an ideal #4

- Lahey

Dear god, no. Did you know his on-ice, even strength goal differential was so bad last year that he almost completely negated the "McDavid effect"? McDavid was on the ice for 95 goals for and 76 goals against at evens while Letestu was on for just 14 for and 30 against. This is as a 4C that didn't play tough, matchup minutes, either. It was a relatively soft-minutes 4th line and he still got utterly (frank)ing cratered.

I'm not gonna blame this all on him (his wingers were lacking, too), but he truly had an abhorrent year (along with most of the team). 4C is a spot that we can fill for half the price and see miles better results than Letestu has brought during his tenure here. I'm also wary of Todd trying to force him on the PP again and taking away valuable offensive development for our right-shooting younger guys (Puljujarvi, Strome, Benning, Yamamoto).

I am by no means looking to trade RNH, but I do wonder with the lack of Center options available this year if there is a chance PC moves RNH.

Not by choice, but because a team could be looking and decides to over pay

- Lahey

I don't see any feasible trade for RNH that doesn't result with another hole being created by it.

I don't see us getting the type of utility that Nuge gives us in return. He meshes well with Connor, Connor is the shooter on the line (270+ shots tells me he's fine without a designated shooter), he plays a solid two-way game and he can sub-in at C. The best we'd get in trading him is improved depth (assuming a +) and maybe a really shooting winger but, as you mention, it'd be at the expense of more utility. I'll admit that Nuge made more of a believer out of me this past year by making the adjustments he did.

Curious to see how Connolly does this summer. Interesting talent that would fit with our centers, just don't know that we can afford him.

Brouwer could be the answer. Overpaid Vet who has taken a couple faceoffs, also shoots right and would do a good job at taking away that valuable development time that your prospects so dearly need.

I will pass it by Chia and see what he says.

Hard pass on Vanek. Consistently gets outscored by opposition, provides next to nothing on the defensive side of the game and is soft as butter. Not particularly exceptional as a shooter, either. He's not someone I'd hope for Puljujarvi to learn from.

He could be a solid bet. Consistently near or above the threshold for pulling even against middling competition, shoots right, skates well and has a frame suited to forechecking. Only concern is that he doesn't shoot much. Wouldn't be wise to hope for more than a 3rd line guy, though.

Vancouver said he did wonders for helping out Brock Boeser this season.

We’d have to grossly overpay. He has options of more money from better teams in better cities.

Which is fine. I think a lot of the guys that are available should be considered that.
