There's no doubt he's hit some absolutely massive home runs in the draft. But all his other "at-bats" have been fouling out on a two-strike bunt
- eichiefs9

Massive? More like he has taken massive dumps all over our drafts for the last 12 years. Lee being picked in a later round. Woopty doo complete luck.

Between 2011-2015, Islander draft selections played the fewest NHL games in the entire league.

Not my analysis (this was from an Athletic article written by James Gordon) and there were reasons he chose to use that time-frame, but that's pretty atrocious. This all despite having the 6th-highest average pick position.

Those were the years we’ve discussed the drafting of Nino, Strome, Reinhardt, and Dall colle. It’s this stat that you just posted that set the rebuild back 5 years. I’m curious when they let Jankowski go vs when the rebuild took a turn for the worse.

Listen I hate the guy more then anybody but saying every good draft pick was luck is meh. He deserves some credit but he is still terrible at his job

He does deserve some credit, albeit very small. Truth be told you or I could have drafted for 12 years and had some success. It reminds me of the competition whereby someone threw darts at a board to pick stocks to invest vs a trained prof. The results weren’t too far off. Same meat, different gravy

How about the all Dmen draft ...
- Ur Not Me

Ah yes, the good old all-defenseman draft.

4th - Reinhart - 37GP - AHL player
34th - Pokka - 0GP - Just left NA to go back to Europe
65th - Pelech - 131GP - Fringe NHL player
103rd - Loic Leduc - 0GP - lol I have no idea where this person is playing currently
125th - Doyle Somerby - 0GP - Allowed to walk and signed with CBJ
155th - Jesse Graham - 0GP - AHL player
185th - Jake Bischoff - 0GP - traded to VGK, AHL player

Isles got 139 regular season NHL games out of their top-3 selections that year, including 8GP from the 4th overall pick.

It's not just the first round picks, it's the fact that none of their picks hit. You can stomach missing in the other rounds when your 1st lives up to his billing. But when everyone sucks, that's a problem.

That draft alone should have gotten him fired

Barzal will, hopefully, be looked at as one of the absolute worst deals ever when his career his done. Beauvillier is shaping up to be a damn good late-1st.

I loathe the man as much as anyone, but I'll give credit where it's due. He's still an absolutely putrid toilet-human, but he's done a couple good things. His overall body of work is garbage, there's no arguing that.

Just as a hilarious comparison:

The Islanders 2011 draft yielded a total of 476 NHL games played, 340 of which have been from Ryan Strome.

The Ducks 2011 draft yielded a total of 1089 NHL games played, including 756 games played from their first three selections alone (one 1st and two 2nd's)

Glad to see Eric Boulton was a scout on the isles website, Marty Reasoner is Player Development, and, Marty Reason is under the Head of Player Development which is held by Eric Cairns........thats Snows pathetic staff. The isles website also doesnt have Lou Lamoriello listed in any fashion. Its been over a week...

Side note : Vladamir Mahlakov is a scout for the isles?

In the late 90's to about 2002 I use to freelance as a stage manager for fox sports back when Butchie was the coach. The guy who ran the isles website Kerry Gwydir is now the Assistant to GM Garth Snow and has held that position for a long time now that's all you need to know

When word got around the Islanders players last week that Lou Lamoriello was taking over the team, the most important issue was discussed and, in at least one case, addressed.

“I went out and got a haircut and a shave that day,” Cal Clutterbuck told The Athletic. “Just to be safe.”

Now let's hope he goes out and trades himself while he's at it

Lee's comments show the players want a change at least that was my interpretation and it's just refreshing to hear these things

Going to be great that Lou will not blame a bad season on an AHL dman being injured. We finally have adults running running the show and the players better buy in or out they go.

"stage manager for fox sports" is just code for "glory hole technician", in case anyone was confused

A tiny part of me would love to see the carnage that would take place if Tavares signed elsewhere and then Lou quit

Just curious, I personally wouldn't do it, would you package Lee in a trade for Kessel given his reported rift with Sullivan?
