Three right side guys making 8 5.5 7 for Trouba? won't happen. Troub's is as good as gone
- sparky1957

Myers is getting paid 3 (his cap hit is 5.5) - he is a good value Jets can keep around 1 more year and still find money for Trouba if they really want him. If there is a deal to be done with Trouba it might be time to sell high on Myers.

Myers will be severely over paid on his next deal. Buyer beware

Send Trouba and Mason to Toronto for a 1st, 2nd, McElhinney and a prospect or two.

There is a big difference between those two teams and Jets. Jets are approaching their window with a team on the way up. If Blues and Sharks could have spent more they would have. Blues and Sharks have a closing window and did max out their cap space and the Jets will max out their space.

Tavares isn't an easy fit for the Jets on the ice or on the cap. Who will he take ice time from (Shieffle, Little, Roslovic), salary will take out Perreault (weaker 3 line & depth), does team chemistry need a shakeup? (no), are there other less intrusive ways this team can make equal amount of improvement? (yes - many young players improving towards their prime together)

It's fine for Jets to sign Tavares to a 7x10 contract for this season however look ahead to next year and see that more key players will be in play. Even professionals won't deliver the same consistent intensity of play if they know that they are suiting up for someone else next year.

The skill and chemistry the Jets have have taken them further than Tavares has taken the Islanders in his career. He is not worth the hype - he is the best available this year and it's the job of media to spin the best story possible but he has a lot to prove before teams assume he can walk on water.

Thanks 2.0 for answering that ! No need to say much more. Jets will still have a different enough look to them next year that they won't be seen as being stale and doing nothing.

Over under on Jets trades at the draft is 1, what say you? Do you think they make no moves or more than 1 at the draft.

I’ll take the over and say the Jets make 3 trades.

over.....but to be more precise...more than one player. Best bet is Petan for a high third with Dano as a garbage throw in. Chariot a possibility for a trade. Numerous players on the Moose are candidates such as Lemieux or Spacek. Also, Stuart could be traded for a low pick to generate a small amount of extra cap space we may need.

Let's give up on the Tavares dream already. He will be an Islander.

Thanks benny. I'm all for dreaming big but don't see a fit for Tavares here - the dream is established in the success of the d&d that's going on.

C'mon guys. Kovalchuk, Drouin, Tavares, etc. While its fine to dream, in reality, none of these are ever going to happen. We were close this year and will be an even better team next year even with the exact same lineup. One of the key reasons for the Jets success has been the camaraderie and tightness as a team. It's a very close group. So much so that it was more than obvious to a guy like Statsny that these guys will be winners and he wants in.

Bringing the likes and ego of guys like Kovalchuk, or Drouin would be cancer on the team. Tavares we just cannot afford. The Jets next year will look mostly the same but obviously at a much higher market cap. All those extra playoff revenues will go to good use. Gone will be a few guys like Toby, Dano, Matthais, and maybe Perreault in a trade and so we can keep Statsny. There will be a few fresh faces ( 3rd or 4th line) but I would predict no MAJOR changes....just mostly tweaking.

Hasn’t Kovalchuk won more championships than anyone on our roster? While also having an appearance in the cup final,no less. Only Byfuglien has any real track record.

If the Tavares dream dies, than the Kessel dream comes alive. Who better to play for the Jets than Wheeler's best freind?

Ultimate, I agreed on big game hunting but I am not sure if you are serious here or not. So, I can't support you on this one.

Yes, Kessel has won some cups but I am not sure that would be duplicated here. As large as Phil's ego is/was, I believe it was initially tempered by playing with the likes of real great players like Crosby and Malkin who had already won it all. Now that Phil is a winner, his humility is now unshackled and his own self importance will flow to the top (as it is currently doing in Pittsburgh) because he is just as great as Malkin or Crosby in his own mind.

I don't want to see him here. That has disaster written all over it and once the crowd starts to get on him for whatever reason, and they will, it will be Toronto all over again.

No Phil here for me please.

I was just messing about Kessel. Seeing as to how NYI cleaned house today, it does look like they are creating a better organization and as such providing JT another reason to stay.

I still do think we need another elite center to compliment Scheifele. Hopefully a big trade lands us Aho or Barkov. I seem to be loving Fins lots these days.

I think by the time playoffs start next year Roslovic can be that guy you are looking for. He just needs to start the year at Center and being given the chance all year to make mistakes and learn from it in the position. Don’t flip him back and forth from wing to Center, we didn’t do it with Shief don’t do it with Roslovic

I agree with you that Roslovic needs to play. He is ready and needs to play, ever game. Same with Poolman on D. Start them at the beginning of the season and keep them playing. I hope they don't start flipping Roslovic around in differnet positions and hope they don't flip Poolman from the Moose to the Jets or vice versa. There is no way you can get your confidence when you are bouncing around the lineup or from club to club.

Its time the Jets take advantsge of these ELC's and play these players like Roslovic and Poolman that can play the game at the NHL level on the cheap.

Fits with the draft and develop model of Chevy's playbook.
