People on here want Risto gone but yet the would trade for Weber, they don't want to pay ROR 7.5 but would pay Stastny 6.5. Makes no sense at all.

Personally, I would hold onto Sam and Risto. I don't mind trading ROR if we get a core piece/s that will make this team better but holding him for another year to evaluate and break in our new centers isn't the worst idea in the world either. It all comes down to what management wants, the return, and/or how they feel about Mitts playing second line center.

Botterill will be careful how he moves forward. Okposo was a mistake they can't make another one of those. There was some talk regarding Kessel that I posted about a couple times.

all i know is the teams Defense HAS to get better. Dahlin is huge, having Ghule, Risto and Mccabe helps, adding a top 4 makes a statement. i would rather win one goal games and hold one goal leads then trying to put up 5 goals a night

I think Botts will be careful as well. Buffalo is in a good situation cap wise. After next season Pominville and Molson will be off the books and they can buy out Bogo's last year if they have to leaving just Kyle's contract as a strain on the Sabres and there is always a chance there will be more compliance buyouts with the new CBA, which would free us of his contract as well. Avoiding crazy free agent signings and just waiting until these players are off our books is the closest thing to starting a new without having any anchor contracts hindering our Cap, as a non-expansion team can get.

Zemgus Girgensons makes me cool with him on second line

Our defense has definitely improved but it will all come down to how good our goal-tending is in the next few years. I think finding the right Goaltender/s is possibly more important than adding to our defense, especially with the additions we have coming in this season. Goaltending will be the real difference between winning 1 goal games and losing 1 goal games, imo.

I have advocated for Risto to be traded IF it is true he refuses to play the coaches system(Bylsma and now Housley).
Furthermore, I see him as very good 3, not a 2...but that is my opinion. So keeping him on the 2nd pairing is fine assuming he plays within the system.
Therefore, I still believe they need that shut-down RHD.

Securing a solid, defensively sound #2 goes a long, long way to allowing Ulmark suitable time to find his A-game.

Having Okposo return to form this upcoming season is one of the best things that could happen to the Sabres. If he can find his game again after an offseason of training (he couldn’t do that last year), and chip in around 25, it would be huge and cost the Sabres literally nothing in assets.
