Yeah, no thanks.

At 25 I would prefer any of these three- Merkely, Kravtsov, or Lundkvist.

- GreatGigInTheSky

Samuelsson projects as a 2nd rd pick, I don't know if taking him at #25 is the best bet.. Does have good size, so that will help him..
I think Wilde has a higher ceiling and would be a better fit for what the Leafs need.

right wing and left wing want different things though
- Symba007

The left wing right wing thing needs to die.
Common sense shows that certain things like business, taxes, economy are best served by right wing where social issues are best served by Center left. Why can’t someone be both?

Maybe Frenchie knows... What's Kravtsov's contract status in Russia? Would he be able to come over to the NHL immediately or wait a few years?

I can see that. Unless Carolina takes Zadina 2nd.

Bouchard will probably still be there if they trade back 2-3 spots. I think he's gonna be stupidly good.

So I hope the Habs don't draft him.

- GreatGigInTheSky

trade down, get another 2nd round pick, draft Bouchard or Boqvist, trade pacs in a package to NYI and get another 1st, package 2 of their 5 2nd round picks and draft a 3rd 1st round pick.

so easy

In theory maybe. But Trudope is way further left than most want to admit on all things. He’s practically Commie.

Compound interest over 40 years.

- Iggysbff

ok.
so the First Nations People in Alberta got fleeced.
what's the point you're making?

[n.b. First Nations would have 'exploited' the Alberta area a bit differently, so these compound interest figures wouldn't have existed at all]

i bet you feel really proud to be a 7th generation 'all-Albertian' ... gives you lots of 'rights' correct?

Seems like a bit of a stretch at #25....

25. Toronto Maple Leafs – Mattias Samuelsson, defenseman (US National Development Team): The 6-foot-4, 216-pound Samuelsson is the kind of big, two-way defenseman that the Leafs don't have enough of on their NHL roster right now. Samuelsson isn't a greyhound D-man, obviously, but still posted 10 goals and 31 points in 58 games played for the US Development team last season. Samuelsson is the son of Kjell Samuelsson, who was an outstanding defender in his NHL day, and is much more mobile, creative and geared toward a possible top-pairing role than his old man was back in the day. While it's possible the Leafs could be shopping for an eventual power forward replacement for James van Riemsdyk as well, a pick like Samuelsson seems like much more of a sure bet in Toronto.

- PatC80

Actually wouldn't mind Samuelsson, but I think it is unlikely with the Dubas in charge. With the analytics mentality, if they go with a d-man in the first round, more likely to be one of Merkley, Wilde or Woo. I have a feeling they may go for LW Denisenko with pick 25 and then start taking d-men for the next three rounds. Guys like Ginning, Lundkvist,Johansson and Xavier Bouchard if they are available.

the reality is the votes get split so he catered to the left to win a majority

As a more left leaning type of guy, I tend to disagree with that. His policies don't mirror successful social democracies like the nordic countries.

thanks.

Not that it matters, any player selected with the #25 pick, won't make the roster this upcoming season..

Kravtsov would be an excellent choice too...

The reality is an environmental special interest group out of the US ran campaigns based on “Anyone but Harper” in targeted ridings and won 90% of them which flipped the election to Trudope. Who needs Russian meddling when we have good old US meddling.

Samuelsson may be good, just not sure the Leafs should take him at 25.

Denmark does pretty well for themselves.

15th highest GDP per capita is a small price to pay for being garbage at hockey.

Still can't believe after a year like that he went 58th.
