Saw that Morin will be out to February. It is finally time to call a spade a spade and realize that he is a bust(but not really as he never should have been drafted that high) and that this organization made a huge mistake drafting him. If you remember at the time, when he was chosen, the commentators immediately said that it was a reach, an off the board selection and they probably could have had him in the second round. 2013 was a pretty good draft and the list of players we could have chosen at that spot is maddening then and especially now in hindsight(don't look back on it unless you have a strong stomach). I personally like Morin and would have liked to see him in the NHL permanently last year, but he is ridiculously injury prone. Unfortunately, there is no way we can even unload him now for anything decent so all that's left is to cross fingers and hope he can make it back. We all assume that we will continue to get better because of our drafts, but what if the players we draft don't make it. We hit on Provorov(slam dunk), Patrick(slam dunk) and Konecny(good selection), but so far that is it and we're talking 5 years of drafting. Sanheim shows potential and Haag is pretty good. I hope Hart is the real deal because that alone could make us a good team. I like the direction the team is going, but I believe they are waiting too long to get some guys in the nhl. I also have little faith in Hextall as most of his signings and trades have been mediocre to awful. Not doing anything about the PK coaching and assembling the worst goaltending tandem in the league is also disappointing. I hope the remainder of the offseason brings some solid additions...and subtractions. If not, I hope to see Hextall gone next offseason, as this is not a lifetime job and the goal is not mediocrity. - darkerens
Oh no he didn't? Darkerens just hit the panic botton.
I think you may have jumped the gun on this one. He was a longer project when they took him. He had a tough injury season for sure. He will bounce back. In a couple years you will have a hulking monster clearing the crease and shutting down power plays. He's not a bad skater to boot and can smash someone's face in. You will like the pick in a few years when we are a cup contender. |

Flyers need a surprise season from a goalie or another player, could be Nuevy if not traded staying healthy and playing to his potential or it could be Stolarz coming back from injury. Or it could be Simmonds tearing it up...
call it, who is going to have a surprise season...
I would say Nuevy but my sense he is gone... So I will go with Stolarz - wcorvette

which guy have they or are they waiting too long to get into the NHL?
Not willing to write off Morin because of an injury played AHL season.

I agree. We saw what he can do fully healthy and with confidence 2nd half of season. He has a FULL healthy summer to train and improve now. I think we are going to see why this kid was #1 for a while this upcoming season. |

I think 58 would be a great season..
For it to be a dominant season I think he needs to break 70.
I'll be happy if gets over 50 as that is a big progression. |

Hey, I think NP is a beast for his age and I think he was the best kid in his draft. Maybe not this year but he will show this over the long haul.
Some of the numbers guys are throwing out there just are not fair expectations of such a young player. He is still missing the proper supporting cast at this time. I really think his big thing is a two way player with great hands. Points are going to come to this young stud but next year may not be a big break out year. Although, I think we see a much better start from him production wise which will push his numbers up some. I was hoping for this kid at the draft over Hirsh. Just think his two way play and size will be a benefit for the Flyers. |

Except he isn't really injury prone, let alone "ridiculously injury prone".
I will say the kid manages to suffer setbacks at the most inopportune times. He really would've benefited from this camp I think. |

TK was a guy I was high on when Hexy traded and stole at the draft. He does take some risks but he is good for a break away every game and will stir the pot ever chance he gets. Think he brings some of the pop the team needs...just needs to sure up his defensive play some picking his time to spring better. He is not the best we got but I sure like routing for the guy. |

Both the teams we root for still have wounds worth licking. I'm just trying to generate some humor while I secretly hold out for Vegas to pull the Cinderella run off.

I could really talk futile goaltending and bring up Raycroft and Toskala |

Rather than go into detail I'll just say I completely disagree with your stance on Morin, and find most of it to be absurd.
The Flyers finished 3rd in the Metro division and made a 10 point increase from the previous season. Stating that he also signed the worst goaltending tandem in the league is also absurd. If you're looking for Hextall to make a lot of moves this off season I think you'll be disappointed. Hextall isn't going anywhere. |

Agreed...and the statement on poor drafting means someone isn't following the young ones in the pipeline. I mean getting a guy like Lindblom in the 5th round. And the Meyers signing was big (no pun intended). Hexy has turned this program around. Being a bubble playoff team is not where his story will end. |

Depends who is on the board but I sure wouldn't cry losing a 2nd round pick if the Flyers were able to secure Farabee. He would have to slip a bit but there could be a run on D players. That could happen. |

I see 60 within his reach easily with quality wingers.
It took ghost and Giroux each a full season to fully recover. I don't think we have even seen how dynamic he is yet and that gets me excited!! One thing I noticed about him was how quick he got chemistry with other players. Once he gets that initial first step burst again he is going to be hard to contain. I think it's just the tip of the iceberg with him |

Quality wingers is the issue. I think he will have one quality winger but maybe not two yet. 60 points is a reach next year. He will be a great player for the Flyers next year but hitting 60 would be one hell of a season for the kid. Here's to you being right though. Patrick is a talent. |

Leafs fans live in a world of delusion, they haven't won a Cup or even been to the finals since 1967, and they've missed the playoffs 21 times since then as well. They really shouldn't be talking smack to anyone.
edit: Also, if you were going to rate the top 50 NHL players since the 1967 expansion, would any Leafs be on the list? Salming, Sittler and Sundin were all good players, but top 50 in the last 50+ years? I don't think so. Meanwhile, Clarke and Lindros would certainly make the list and Parent, Barber and Howe would at least get some consideration as well.
Leafs fans are the main reason why I hate that franchise. Well, them and Darcy Tucker. - BiggE
Not all their fans are delusional....it’s a massive fan base that has some of the most devoted fans in all of sports. |
