I thought they were considering getting rid of him because his defence is bad.

The problem is Van needs a RHD not a LHD. JB has a chance to draft Boqvist, Bouchard, Dobson this year probably.

On elite right now they only have 45 D listed but 31 are LHD and 14 RHD for next year. The better D currently are LHD too.

Gudbranson
Tanev
Stecher

Aren't going to cut it in the future.

I don't know why they want to get rid of him but they should be looking for higher up-side offensively IMO. If you're going to let some defensive stuff slide you have to see the results on the offensive side.

Good morning,

My new blog is up, pondering the Stanley Cup Final and whether it'll be a bigger blow to Canucks fans if Washington or Vegas wins its first championship.

It's not a real 'fit' if it doesn't involve breaking stuff.

You don't know the difference between rebuilding through the draft and bad management, that's your problem.

I know plenty Lefty. I just don't waste my time with the panic. I also don't suffer single mindedness. If there is opportunity to improve the team's future, then do it. If a player is 18 to 22, he fits the rebuild. I'm not going to shake my fist at Hockeybuzzards because the player wasn't drafted by the Canucks and we're all living a lie.

I agree there would probably be a better power play contributor available at 7 but he's 21 and already and has 32 points with *10 goals* in his sophomore season. Mostly 5 on 5. People saying he's going to top out a 30 point player sounds unrealistic to me. No upside for a 6'3" 210lb D man who's 21 and put up 32 points already? A goal scorer to boot... and strong and healthy.

Good thing Vegas had all those years to build through the draft...
