It's worth mentioning that "one of the best on the Canucks" is not comparable to "one of the best in the league".

Benning will never be a successful GM until he changes his thought process, imo he can't see past his nose to the future. His "M.O." is his mind is always in the now, trading Tanev is a move towards the future and imo he should be traded.

To me the difference between keeping Tanev and signing a UFA like say, I don't know, Tobias Enstrom or any one of these guys http://www.spotrac.com/nh...ee-agents/defenseman/ufa/ is negligible.

Personally I take the picks and move on, but hey, that's just me.

Benning made his mind up about moving Tanev the day he resigned Guddy IMO. It will happen but there is no way he envisioned paying a Dman 4 million to play 15 minutes a night and that's what will happen if you keep Tanev.

I do not feel there is a serious commitment to Guddy. For a reasonable price, Benning wouldn't hesitate I'm betting.

I have no faith in his trading abilities, he's come out on top of one trade, potentially, the Dahlen trade. Every other one he's lost.

Where he has done well, potentially or at least on paper, is on the draft floor. But he never takes full advantage of it.

Seriously though, my statement about trading Tanev was on the premise he's getting two 2nds or a late first for him. If you're not getting that then ya, you don't trade him.

If you are, I'll get Donna to drive him to the airport in his Mazda.

I like Monument better but Pinnacle is great too, it's like Grayhawk, two great courses.
