Kessel doesn't seem like a botterill target. Had a career high in points so you'd be paying a premium for production you probably won't see again since he's 31 going on 32.

That and the no move clause, I'd look elsewhere.

Why rush? I’d rather put my faith in Nylander for a season at low cost than make a big trade to acquire an aging All-star.
- washedup20

I have patience for Nylander. I'm just trying to look at the trade with a realistic eye. Kessel is going to command a price tag, he's a top 10 winger in the league. What do we have to give that won't kill us to lose? Kessel would take what should have been Nylander's spot on the wing, we can lose a 1st next season since we have two, and we can lose a middle-pairing defensemen since we have, McCabe, Scandella, Guhle, Nelson, and Bogo who are all essentially middle pair guys.

The price for Kessel might be high, but we can pay Nylander, a 1st, and a middle Dman without hurting the team.

IMO:

Acquiring any established Wingers would continue the same trend the Sabres have been using since Pegula bought the team.

Lieno
Boyes
Omark
D-Lo
Stewart
Gionta
McGinn
Kane
Moulson
Okposo
Pouliot
Pomminville

I think that list is pretty self explanatory

I know that and Im sure they did talk but there are too many obstacles here for me to think it's remotely realistic.

None of them equal what Kessel has done but yea, why not wait another 4 more years for Nylander to do something.

It will probably take 4 years to get good, so yes I’m fine with that

The only obstacle I foresee is the tipped over nacho cart.

Still #1. Take notes Washed Up. That's how its done.

I do not like RoR

but, I think the tide is turning

put Casey on the wing for Jack

get RoR a true left wing that has produced

play E-Rod as 3rd line center

my goal would be

1. move some prospect, mccabe or scandella, and a pick to get that LW to play with RoR

2. get a 1B goalie to play will Ullmark, I like Bernier

3. move some of the scrubs, larsson, girgens, beaulieu, etc

4. try to get bogo, okposo, pommer (1 of them at least, off the roster)

5. get another RD to play second line with scandella or mccabe

6. grab 1 vet winger for the bottom 6, hell it can be vanek for the 3rd line and second team pp

dahlin speeds everything up, and let's see what risto and ror do this fall before we regret a knee jerk trade

I'm not one that is looking to move McCabe, seems we need Scandella. I'm good with cleaning house with the scrubs.

Idk why anyone thinks it’s going to take 4 years to get good. We are a playoff team next year. (2018-2020). Depending on what we do in the offseason we can be knocking on the door this season.

It's not that much of a stretch. It's highly unlikely they make a 35-40 point jump next year to become a playoff team

year after will probably be a lockout

year 3/4 is probably the target

Continued on NHL.com after this article to read the one on Kane's new contract. I went to the comments section and saw a comment that I just had to share and I think it is Bat-poop crazy. Here it is if you want a laugh:

Commenter 85b478e5ec5290eb39b04ca7a9583bf3 8 hours ago

If Buffalo hadn't traded Kane, he'd have signed for $5 million per season instead of $7 million. Just another bad move in a long line if bad moves by Buffalo over the last 5 years.
