I think Hathaway and shore would be okay as well but not at the suggested salaries. They are somewhere around, maybe a bit above nhl min players. - tincup
Well they either need to change something in the top 6 or the bottom 6 ....can’t have much of the same and just hope Bennett and janko breakout .... |

I think the Flames need to figure out what they want to play. This is a copy cat league and with Vegas's success I think teams will be looking for 4 lines that have speed & skill.
I think half the players here are built for yesterdays NHL truculent, physical and grinding. The flames need to increase their speed and skill up front and this list does none of that.
They need to get younger, faster and add more offensive skill. I think their defense is fine although I think Hamilton should be traded. Not that he is bad, quite the opposite. He can get the Flames what they need, help up front. I think Toronto would be a good trading partner. Hamilton for Kapanen, Andreas Johnson and their first round pick. That gets the Flames 2 young highly skilled top 6 forwards. It also helps the power play.
Take the first round pick and a prospect and offer this to Buffalo for O'Reilly ( I would make the prospect Adam Fox, a NY native who only signs with the Flames if he wants to play here, if not he walks.) Buffalo would covet Fox and Fox would probably leave school to play close to home.
Adding the Toronto pieces and O'Reilly would definitely change the culture, the speed and skill level of the Flames. There is little chance of all this happening but imagine if it did how much better the Flames would be next year |

And by failed abortion, i mean the one where the chick goes in and 8 months later she ends up having a healthy set of twins |

So, you say we should be getting faster but then suggest trading a 6’6” D that (according to Burke) skates like a deer. I think that’s good.
I’m tired of these Doigie trade ideas. They’re all terrible as is the idea of trading him. I’ve said it before, if they consider it, it needs to be a very clear overpay by the other team. Looking at your TO trade it starts with Marner or Nylander. In your proposal remove Johnson and add Marner or Nylander. Anything else is a dumb move by CGY. |

His points dwindled in Carolina and there was a lot of hate thrown his way ...the fan base and media was questioning if he was done ....maybe it was just due to his contract |

He had so much promise.... and he really is a smart guy. His system is excellent.
But his player usage is so, so bad. And he's disastrously inflexible. Aho even said things really started to pick up for him offensively when Peters let he and TT just play.
Said there was one system foe himself and Teravainen, and then a different one everybody else had to play. |

I agree in that the only way Dougie gets moved is if it is a clear overpayment coming back to Calgary. He is what every team in the NHL is looking for in a defenceman - that means if you want him that bad you will overpay. Like something along the lines from Toronto of Nylander + Kapanen + their 1st this year. If that's too much (or something along those lines) then no problem - we just keep him.

That is too much but you’re right that’s what has to be given up to get a D man like Hamilton |
