Faulk for RNH straight up!

Actually, I think Faulk is EXACTLY the type of dman EDM needs. He may not put up the type of points of an elite #1, but he puts up enough, plays a solid all-around game and has a good physical edge.

I didn't think you were making a case for him being number one. I just don't have the same view of him. He's not that good offensively, he hasn't topped 37pts at any point in the last three years. He's 33rd overall in scoring from defenseman in that time period. That's good, no doubt about it, but I'm not sure that I'd move someone like Nugent Hopkins for him. Hell, Brent Seabrook has scored more than him over the last three years. I also don't necessarily agree that he's "solid" in his own zone. He may not be a burning dumpster, but I don't think he's that great either. I think he's a solid 2nd pairing guy, which is important, but I'm not overly impressed with him.

He's among the worst slot defenders in the league and is consistently well below his team in goal share at even strength (around -7% team-relative GF% the last three years) despite regularly playing on a soft minute pairing with Hanifin. He doesn't produce much at 5-on-5 (12, 24 and 20 the last three years) and is a poor penalty killer. Based on his results, I would be hard-pressed to even call him a 2nd pairing guy.

Can some of this be attributed to poor coaching or a weak partner? Maybe some of it, but a good player doesn't show negatively in a significant number of categories every year.
