Just curious here, but with Jordan Staal signed for 5 more years at $6m, Victor Rask signed for 4 more years at $4m and RFA Elias Lindholm slotted at 3c, how exactly does ROR fit in Carolina's line up? Not sure there is any deal to be made there. Secondly, Carolina was 24th in scoring and are going to trade one of there best scorers for the past 7 years? Their best move would be to trade defense for more scoring.

This was always my thought with them as well. I like Skinner just fine. But i'd rather have one of Slavin, Faulk/Falk? or Hanifin. Whether any of those are realistic is another story, but still.

They need to shake up their center ranks, if the Sabres had those centers would you want them to stand pat?

I got this.

Eichel is bust, Middlestat will be injury prone. The defense is atrocious and Botts will mess up the draft and reach for Quinn Hughes at 1. He is also racist for trading Kane. If Ror could stop being an entitles brat maybe he would still love the game.

I think we trade him to Nashville who could use some leadership for Josi, a 1st and a prospect. We can throw in Jordan Nolan in a sign and trade.

Skinner's due for a nice raise that Carolina probably doesn't want to pay. They're adding a guy capable of scoring 40 goals through the draft so that should soften the blow

Yup, better to keep him, give Casey 20 games to get going and reevaluate thereafter. Throwing Casey to the dogs as 2C from day one would be a misstep, even from just a development standpoint.

Mittelstadt, Guhle, Dahlin, Olofsson, Malone and Pilut could all be new to the team next year. We need at least a few players with some notches in their belt to play too.

- RhinoFan

I know it wasn't' the pros, but Mittelstadt was facing defense-first systems all season long with teams game-planning for him on a nightly basis...he played very well as an 18 yr. old against mostly players who were much older and/or bigger than him

rask was a disaster last season and have read that there may be interest in them landing a top-six center because of it...and, you're right, makes more sense for them to trade from their defensive strength, unless they don't think they can re-sign skinner

I don't think he's gonna take a pay cut, and he's gonna want max term. Someone on the open market would give him max term. Kane's contract is gonna set the tone

Victor Rask is done in Raleigh, IMO.

Lindholm plays RW.

Sebastian Aho will be the 1C. Martin Necas probably gets a shot as a C as well.

if you're talking skinner he'll get what Kane got. similar age and only 5 guys have scored more goals at even strength over the last 3 years.

His inconsistency is related to his usage.

Pretty hard to put up a bunch of points when you're saddled with Derek Ryan and Lee Stempniak as your linemates.

Honestly it’s unbelievable That some think John Tavares makes no sense you sign elite JT (age 27 ) trade ROR ( age 27 )

Your centers

Jack
JT
Casey

And the wingers you get for ROR to make up the lines

- gerbe75pts

And in three players Eichel, JT and Dahlin theres 30 mill in cap space on three players, don't see anyone saying JT is no good but how the hell do we sign the wingers we get from dealing ROR if three players make up almost 50% of our cap?

We have too many long term deals to make another, no matter how good the player is.
Also lets be serious, no way JT comes here, to a potentially worse team than he is currently on.

I don't think they want to resign Skinner.

It's more about changing the culture in the organization than anything. Guys like Skinner and Faulk have been around for about 7 years now and we have nothing to show for it.

They want to change the way the Canes play, and they want the newer, younger core to dictate that.

Aho, Teravainen, Necas, Svechnikov.... they're all going to be guys who really push the pace and form the new nucleus of this club.

See that's how dumb you are, nobody said Tavares isn't worth the money, they said it makes no sense for the Sabres to pay him 11 mill a year in the current state this team is in.
- SABRES 89

The thing is, with Tavares, this team is playing into late May. Look at the Avs roster sans MacKinnon, Landeskog. They were all unproven before the season. Look at the Devils sans Hall. We would have the deepest group of Centres in the Eastern Confernce with Eichel, Tavares, ROR.
