Boy oh boy there's an example. How did that happen? That should not occur in any plane of existence.

Friendly reminder that Mike Vernon won the Conn Smythe. He of the career 2.98 GAA and .890 SV%

You really don't. A hot average goalie is going to beat a good goalie playing normally.
- Wetbandit1

A good goalie is gonna get hit more often than an average goalie

This thought process that goalies don’t matter is nuts

Why is Vegas in the Cup?
Bc Fleury has been awesome
Tampa is only in this series bc Vasilevsky was so good in games3-5

Look at the final4 goalies this year
All among the best in the league

Goaltending ABSOLUTELY matters
It matters a lot

We're not trading Svechnikov for Mittelstadt.

No way in hell.

They scored at virtually the same rate in the USHL when they both played there in 2016/2017.

Difference is that Svechnikov was 16 turning 17, whereas Mitt was 18 turning 19.

- BINGO!

He was 17- 18 in the USHL

He’s 19 now and played a year of college/pros last year

he hasn't played less than 77 games since 2013-14, where he played 71 and he's 26 years old.
- Sabresfan-365

Is he only 26?
That’s my bad then
I thought he was 28 for some reason & would be starting his new contract at 29

The 2 yrs changes things a little for me
More interest in him now
BUT
Definitely not trading ROR for a guy who could just walk on us after a year

If this ROR for Jeff Skinner rumor is in any way true, and anyone is baffled by a potential 7x7 deal for Skinner because ROR and now Kane basically have that same contract, neither of them are a sniper.

Jeff Skinner is one of the few true snipers in the NHL today. His wrist shot is paralleled by very few players. He's still young, hasn't been plagued by injuries over the past few years, and would be a perfect winger for Jack Eichel.

Skinner has never played with a #1 Center and has still put up great goal totals.

Eichel needs a true scoring winger.

It's pretty simple.

You make this trade 8 days a week.

Of course, I think Carolina could add a little, or each team can send an additional piece.

ROR + McCabe + 2nd rd pick

for

Skinner + Faulk

Both teams win, IMO.

i assume they'd work it out the same way they worked out the ROR deal. Im normally not a fan of those types of moves, but Skinner has been a terrific scorer at even strength/5v5 these past three years.

We need more players who can make things happen away from the man advantage, skinner does that.

No thanks
Overrated

I think I’d wait on Skinner until he’s a UFA unless there’s a contract extension as part of the deal
Can’t risk him walking on us

Fair
Gotta have that contract extension agreed to though

Also,
Their new owner is supposedly cheap
They might not want RORs salary back
That would make him hard to acquire unless they’ll take Nylander +

oh the deal is never going to happen because of that and because Skinner isn't waving to come here (yeah i said it), but that's the type of deal id bet big on.

Because his birthday is so late in the year it threw my math off. I getcha. He would have been 18 for basically all of his USHL season and 19 for almost all of last year.

It's possible that (I think) eberle, Hoffman, Kucherov and Skinner will all be UFAs next year. We should be able to make an attractive offer to a good player

Next year who knows. But as of right now, we're still the first team ever to finish 31st in the NHL. That does not an attractive destination make.

Montreal, Edmonton & Vancouver all have GMs about to get fired if they don’t win NOW

Hopefully we can take advantage of one of them being desperate to try & save their jobs

Benning is probably fine, basically a puppet for the ownership there.

Id take full advantage of Chiarelli even if his job wasn't on the line

I don't know that the Habs will be up for dealing within the division.

Money talks and bullpoop walks. We'll be clearing 10.5 with Moulson and Pominville. If Botts can move Bogo, there's 5 more, or if we trade Okposo, there's 6 more.

Plenty of cash to lure in a fish

Just a reminder that on top of being slow and unable to score, our team is also soft.
