I was thinking that usual trading partner Arizona may come into play again. They only have the 5th overall pick and don't pick again until 55.

Would the Rangers be willing to sacrifice one of those late first rounders to move from 9 to 5?

Would probably cost another pick or prospect...

and if both Zadina and Bouchard are gone, is Wahlstrom the one they'd want?

Wonder if they look to a player, like they did last year with Stepan, though not someone of that ilk to go from 9 to 5. I would rather keep the extra first round picks and try and hit a home run. Caps got Kuz at 26, Chytil was the 21st selection last year, so I wouldn't just toss in a pick to move up unless they have a player rated so highly that won't make it down to nine.

I think David Quinn changes the game a bit for Tkachuk now too

I really have no idea who the Rangers actually target though.

My own two favorites are Zadina and Bouchard.

I do believe if the Rangers have zeroed in on somebody no matter who it is, and they have an opportunity to trade up to make sure they get him, they will do it.

remember in 2004 they traded up with that pick they got from Toronto for Leetch, threw in a second rounder to move up to 19th when they grabbed Korpikoski?

can definitely see something like that again

(just looked it up, Rangers went from 24th to 19th)

they sent Toronto's first-round pick in 2004 (24th overall) and New York's compensatory second-round pick in 2004 (46th overall) to Calgary in exchange for Calgary's eighth-round pick in 2004 (247th overall) and this 19th overall.
