I think the comments that came out from Hayes & Shattenkirk were very telling. They were basically saying that they had very few practices, and that practicing reinforces the all-for-one mentality and gets everyone on the same page. It really sounds like the players KNEW they should be doing more, but AV wasn't leading them to do it. |

I think there is way more to it then just saying to players, "play physical." Think it starts with giving a poop about your teammates, having a real team concept, sticking up for each other no matter what. Hopefully Quinn can foster that type of environment.
That to me is team toughness. Its not having a couple players run around hitting people for the hell of it. Or having a designated fighter. Look at the Predators game from last year. Two players in a span of a couple minutes take cheap shots to the head, and the players on the ice didn't do a (frank)ing thing. Thats not on AV, thats on the players on the ice not giving 2 poops about their teammates. |

So what you're saying is that they should re-sign Cody McLeod |

No, trade for Wilson.. He will kick the poop out of his own teammates if they don't step up. He will also throw Barzal through the Honda's windshield. |

I agree to a point. But honestly, it seemed at times like if someone took the opportunity to play physically AV would punish them. Either with fewer minutes or a demotion to the 4th line. |

I agree, but the coach sets the tone and is the one that holds the players accountable. It starts from the top, and if a player isn't willing to pay the price than the coach (or ultimately the GM) has to deal with that player accordingly.

Yeah I agree in that sense. I just know if I watched someone hit my teammate in the head with a cheap shot, I don't care if Ghandi is the coach and Jesus and MLK are the assistants. I'm going after that person. |

Rangers don't have one player on the roster like that. So it's not happening. |

I think there are. Kreider, Vesey, Andersson, Zuke. Shatty and Skjei can be a bit nasty when they want to. Its going to be up to Quinn to bring this team together to play for each other. |

Again, if you believe AV actually told players to not be physical, i'm not sure what to say. Does he take some of the blame for it not being a team concept, sure, but for individual players that is on them.
Vesey was a pain in the ass to play against all year, and everyone female doged that AV liked Vesey more than Buch. Can't have it both ways. |

Yes, he did...He told them to play to the whistle.....Basically other teams knew that they weren't "allowed" to fight back, and they were taking advantage of...Kind of Like France over the past hundred years or so
