I understand that Evander Kane is a good player and all, but I am seeing another Lucic situation with that deal. |

Simmonds is not getting traded. I’m fine with it. Hextall will not trade a player like him that just gutted out a season of injury that he went through. It has been tough on the core players of this team the past few years. They go into every season knowing there’s no depth in the organization to fill in with injuries, and that Hexy is not going to be making trades to bring vets in here to supplement a playoff push. |

Thanks Bill.
In your opinion (or anyone who wants to answer), would you prefer the high ceiling, low floor, or lower ceiling with higher floor. I know that's a difficult answer because it's all about situation. - VladDrag
I think it would depend on how tall the player is. |

Kane can actually skate so he'll be useful for a bit longer, but yeah, the back half of that contract could get ugly. |

He’s younger and faster than Lucic, but 7 years is 2 more than I would have been willing to give. If he has finally matured, he’s a good all situations winger that can produce. If not, San Jose screwed up royally.
The Sharks prospect pool is pretty shallow so giving up a 1st doesn’t help. If they don’t win a Cup in the next year or 2, they could quickly sink to the bottom of the Western Conference |

Yeah that’s pretty much how I see it. You never say never because a team could make an offer that’s just too good for Hextall to refuse, but I think the odds of a trade happening before next year’s deadline is very slim. |

I would've given 7 years, but not more than 5.5-6 AAV. 7 is pretty wild |

See, I’m the opposite, I don’t mind the dollars as much as the 7 years. With the Cap about to likely hit 80 million, it’s very possible that in 5 years, it could be 90 million or even approaching 100. I just don’t like giving 6+ years to anyone except legit 1st line forwards or top pair Dmen and Kane hasn’t shown nearly enough consistency or maturity for me to consider him a legit 1st line forward. |

Yeah but at the same time the lower AAV isn't worth as much later on if the cap were to go up to that. At 26 and on his 3rd team, it wouldn't surprise me if Kane wanted some security.
With the Sharks cap picture, I think the $ is the bigger issue as guys like Burns, No Show Joe, and Couture are 29+. Their time to win is now. Not really 5-7 years from now IMO |

The guy couldn't just be excited that he scores the OT series-winning goal against the team's biggesy rival, he had to do his stupid premeditated dance instead. Just like when Brian Wilson won the World Series with the Giants. Instead of celebrating, he had to turn around and do his stupid signature X move.
I don't know why, but things like that just piss me off. Just celebrate. |

I haven't seen one person make these claims. I'm trying to figure out why you even wrote this, but I enjoy reading other peoples' takes on prospects. Especially due to the fact that I know next to nothing about most of these kids. - Ftown19125
Most have seen some highlights and a few games of players and are making conversation about players. With the draft coming up that's only logical that there would be discussions about players. That's not what I'm talking about. It's more about claiming to have in depth knowledge of hundreds of junior level draft eligible players. NHL GM's can't do that. |

You've never once read a post by me opining on draft eligible players, so you'd be wrong about that. |

Gaining knowledge and insight into the CBA over a period of years is not comparable to having in depth knowledge of hundreds of draft eligible players. |
