Seems legit. Except you still have Guddy on the team

Where is the #10 pick? I don't see him on the team

My bad. I assumed it was his brother coming over in a trade for Markstrom

I think the /sports/ market in Metro Vancouver is oversaturated period. Not to mention about a billion other different things you can do instead of go to a sports event.
- DariusKnight

Vancouver sports teams are crap. I am not sure they are over saturated. Vancouver Canadians had a good team and provided a good product and sold out all the time.
It was affordable and fun.

Lions suck , Caps suck , Nucks suck and that is why it is hard to sell their product.

Yeah I wouldnt say the whole sports market is over saturated, but more that it isnt really a sports town in general. If another professional sport came in, I'd give them a moderate chance of success, but as a whole youre right in that there are many other things to do instead (not to mention cost of living reducing disposable income)

I know for a fact that Asians love basketball and there is no product. They have no interest in the CFL or MSL. If the Vancouver market wants to sell tickets , give them a product that they like and a chance to win.

I'd give the NBA the best chance to succeed, but the bolded is precisely why I dont think Vancouver is a good enough sports town. I think people are smart enough to know whether they are legit contenders and will only support the teams when they are; its not absolute for all people in the city, but generally speaking the majority are casual/bandwagon sports fans

I dunno if it's a question of being "smart enough to know when" so much as "there's so much else to do, I'll show up when we're contending for a cup"

Perhaps, pretty small difference though. Essentially the priorities are that the sports team doesnt matter much unless they are legitimate contenders. I'd be curious what the TV ratings have been for the Canucks over the past 5 years, because if its about the same then you know most fans arent finding much else to do

I find 90% of most cities are the same. You put out a crap product , they won't come.

Not only that but ticket costs , over priced food , traffic and hi -def TV are killing ticket sales . The big money is in the TV , online revenues, merchandise and advertisements.

As for being a "sporting city", Vancouver is nowhere near Toronto for example. Just not the same appetite. Not enough plebs. Yoga ladies however...

Toronto has more that 6m people.
More than all of BC.
Vancouver has about 2.5m.

That's a fairly small market imo.

Anyways.
Game on.
Who ya got?

i'd be happy to see Ovi advance for once.

We're talking 3000 fans

I am sure we can manage.

California makes more sense but from a fans POV I would like them here

Abbotsford is the best bet , a newer arena , an international airport right in the city about 7 minutes drive to the rink and freeway access to shuttle the prospects to Van when needed. The apparent hold up was FA wanted to buy the arena and the City wants to keep it themselves

Wilson is a man possessed. Looks like Coburn would have had a reach advantage, but Wilson got the best of that ((frank)ed up his hand though!)
