What I don’t get is everyone, even the haters think O’Reilly is good but is “overpaid” by about 2 million. These same people then want to overpay Tavares by about 2 million. Overpaying someone is overpaying someone. It doesn’t matter who it is on the roster, Tavares at 11 million is overpaying him.

What’s also comical are the same people saying they would love O’Reilly at 5.5 million but would trade him and retain 2 million, basically making his salary 5.5 for us in that scenario

- Fattony1187

Tavares, Top 5 in the entire league in scoring in the last 5 years. 10-11MM is not an overpay for that.

jesus christ you act like jb hand picked the (frank)ing roster
- TheSabresTaco

Who picked the (frank)ing line up then? You?

He signed a bunch of terrible players and did not get rid of the terrible players that were here.

You asked for a list of why? That is a list of why we ranked. A super week barely nhl roster designed to fail

Lou is trading an extended JT plus 11 + 12 for Auston Matthews.

TO is not sold on Matthews as a playoff performer and believes Marner has a better attitude

This is all an inside job. Lou still works for the Leafs

Is he tough?

He doesn't fight. He doesn't really lay huge hits - at least I can't think of a really good one.

Why again?

Trade ror- yes if a cant miss trade. Keep him and let him play his game

Sam- why give up on a guy that went 2nd and is 22 years old? Yeah hes soft and might melt in the playoffs

Risto- our best defenseman in 20 years.
Young, difficult to play against, cost controlled

Makes no sense

Build around these guys, until we find a better solution.
See what they can do: when the franchise wants to win

- Boss34

1) Ryan O’Reilly will be 28 or 29 when we’re trying to fight for the playoffs his value is at the highest point you trade him and let’s not forget the game is going faster now he’s not gonna be able to keep up by then probably

2) I don’t trust a guy that all of a sudden starts playing half the season it just shows me he doesn’t have heart and he only cares about one thing “money” and the game is going at a faster rate and he’s not gonna be able to keep up to

3) Ristolainen Is very overrated on these boards I don’t think he’s a number one or franchise defenseman I’ve seen him get Beat on the easiest defensive plays

4) trading maybe two out of the three will help the depth of the organization for winger help and defensive help and Will get some young up and coming players that we can slot on the first or second line

pretty much

I think hoffman could be that guy

get a scoring winger for the second line

move out some of those prospects like baptise, nylander, bailey etc

use pick 32 if needed

move either mccabe or scandella

use those assets to get 2 wingers
