So trading Pacioretty for band-aids at C (see previous post on available Cs), over-paying for Stastny, under-whelming everyone for Thornton? Which one do you prefer?

The way things are going for MTL, Price will be out for the year with a knee injury early in the season, Niemi will be the starter with Lindgren as the back up. By Xmas, Price and Niemi will be injured, Fucale will be the back up

I don't see the NYR trading a player and a top 10 pick for a player that is UFA next year, the rangers are going through a rebuilding process, doesn't help them.

and as for the bolded...Bozak or Statsny will be a Habs...most likely the 1st one

- Symba007

Sadly, I agree with the first part. He'd have to be nuts to think Bozak will get the media off his back. As for Stastny, he'll have to overpay a la Alzner for that... I'd take a hard pass, though I'd be really happy at Stastny if the contract isn't completely insane.

Only way I keep Pacioretty is if Tavares signs in Montreal

Not even. Let Tavares and Zadina build some chemistry. If actually were to be successful at signing JT, no chance in hell there's $ left over for 67 following summer. Waste of time. I'm trying to move Pacioretty regardless.

I don't know that you sign the guy. Might be a Duchene like situation where he gets moved early in the year to a team that had expectations and is suddenly floundering. But even that assumes that he gets crap offers between now and draft.
- kev1586

I think the guy has value, but it's only for one year. GMS value their picks more and more. I don't know if we can move up in the top 10 without adding anything with Pacioretty and even then...

If Bergevin thinks the team is years away, move him. But so far every moves Bergevin has made was about the team winning now (Weber, Radulov, Drouin, keeping Price, Alzner etc).

I'm telling ya.

Plan A: Sign Tavares
Plan B: Lose a Trade for O'Reilly
Plan C: Lose a Trade for RNH
Plan D: Sign (Overpay) Stastny

One of those is happening.

They don't have to, but he will have more value there then at the deadline, one would think.

Maybe Bergevin waits to see who fails to get their guy on july first, but I don't know.
