It's amazing what you can finally see once you remove the blue-tinted glasses.

And there's no real way to rank draft success: Number of NHL games? All of those have every bit to do with a player being a "coaches guy" or given the right opportunity (ahem, VGK).
- gravyface

thats true also, its hard to actually gauge Draft success.
A lot of the draft evaluations do something like see how many players drafted ended up playing 100 NHL games.

it gives you a baseline to rank team against themselves. but its not perfect.

Sooo....tampering?
- oldstyle

I doubt the Islanders will file tampering charges..

It's been said that Lou already agreed to the deal last week and it was just a meeting to "introduce" himself to Tavares;

Kinda went like this;

"Johnny, Lou Lamoriello here... Let me tell you how this works, you stay with the Islanders and your family gets to live.. So, we're clear, right?"

Hunter traded for Tavares in London

Then whoever signs Hunter up to be their NHL GM will have a leg up dealing with the Oshawa Generals?

He's definitely an old school hockey guy. Not sure I've read many Hunter sucks and his draft record is horrible comments. I'll have to go back and check.

I think that the 2016 and 2017 drafts are questionable beyond the 1st rounds, but that's just me.

Unless they fire Snow, bringing in Lou just makes the Islanders more of a poopshow, not less.
- Atomic Wedgie

Snow has 4 years of contract to burn still too so not a given he'll be moved out.

His first overall and fourth overall picks look good. My dog could have done the same job.

Outside of those two picks, we have 37 games total at the NHL level. Too early to pass final judgement, but it isn't looking good right now.

Pro scouting has been equally meh.

I'm not as high on Andersen as most here.

Martin was a mistake.

We really don't have much to judge on his pro scouting.

- Atomic Wedgie

I agree with you.

The 37 games though is a bit misleading. They did come out and say they would be developing players and seem to be sticking to that.

I'm really torn about the Wash/Tampa series.

If Tampa wins, it makes Tanner look foolish for claiming it was impossible for them to comeback from a 0-2 deficit.

If the Caps win, it makes him look foolish after all he's said about the Caps having a terrible offseason and being a team with no chance of winning at the beginning of the year.
