They can get a CHL guy to look after the drafting and maybe run the Marlies but they really need at least one if not two experienced NHL guys.

I say Dave Taylor and/or Mike Futa because their drafting record with the LA Kings speaks for itself and made them a Cup contender and winner. They have experience and a proven track record that not many others can bring to the table especially when you consider in the past 10 years, only 4 teams have won Cups and all the other "architects" of those teams are either employed or no longer effective.

Right now, the most "experienced" guy is Cliff Fletcher and he lost his mind years ago. Shanahan may be smart and may be the President but even he isn't that experienced as a front office guy. That's why I suggest Ken Dryden. He's very sharp, he doesn't have a front office job but his experience with the Leafs the first time around should go a long way. And as an executive, he doesn't have to be in the limelight but can also have a better platform to push his "hits to the head" agenda he seems to be trying to push the past few years.

i'm not sure if the kings would let futa out of his contract for a non-gm role.

I really think they need one, not just for Dubas but for Shanahan too. I think Lou was the senior adviser that taught everybody the ropes, even those above him.

Pay the Kings money until they do what you want them to do. If you spend 5 million today to find players that wins you Cups tomorrow, it's worth it and at some point the Kings know they'll lose him anyway so why not take the cash?

Brandon Prindham was hired as the assistant to the general manager and now he got promoted to be assistant general manager. Is this guy Dwight Schrute?

I'm sure he's a capable salary cap guy but I don't see much else he brings to the table. I really hope they start looking for some more experienced guys out there, at least one for amateur scouting and one senior executive.

There's nothing to say he's not an improvement over Carrick/Polak. In fact, it's very likely he's better than those two... how could he not be? Leafs brass and scouts seem to think so...
