look at the bright side... if Dubas drafts either one of them again... we know who was at fault the first time around.

on the other side... one Freddie Andersen was drafted twice wasn't he?

- BorjeFan4Ever

yeah, he was by Carolina; they couldn't sign him. If Dubas drafts either of them again, then Dubas is the issue;

If Mattinen goes back into the draft, that's two of Hunter's picks that didn't work out; If not for getting Matthews, and maybe Grundstrom, that 2016 draft would have been terrible. I hope Woll pans out;

too early to call them all busts... Greenway just in his 2nd year of college I believe, and had off ice issues, Brooks with Marlies, Mattinen was a 6th round pick... how many 6th rounders are in the NHL within 2 years of being drafted?

not making excuses for Hunter / Dubas at all... but the Euros tend to arrive a little later

I think the only really questionable one is Korschkov

let's not do the the traditional Leaf fan thingy - and over react.

Brandon Prindham was hired as the assistant to the general manager and now he got promoted to be assistant general manager. Is this guy Dwight Schrute?

I'm sure he's a capable salary cap guy but I don't see much else he brings to the table. I really hope they start looking for some more experienced guys out there, at least one for amateur scouting and one senior executive.

how are you holding up with Evander "Gretzky" Kane not signing with Leafs?
we never had a chance - tax advantages in SJ made him take the low offer...

There's that;

There are several things wrong with his "roster"

Mark Stone is not a need, would cost too much
Zaitsev on the left side, not on his natural right side;
Tavares will likely get more than $10M, not less;
Signing Kovalchuk is not gonna help defensively, I am positive he only plays a 75 foot game;
No way Ottawa trades Karlsson to Toronto, Dorion is dumb, but even he knows it would be wrong;
Ozhiganov in the top 6, means nothing was done to improve the defense;

- PatC80

Can you name 6 better d-men on Toronto? If not, that means something was done to improve the defense.

Having said that, the Leafs need a stud d-man that can eat minutes if they want to be a credible Cup threat. Ozhiganov arguably improves the bottom pairing but the Leafs need a top pairing d-man to truly compete.

seems like you need a nuts and bolts contract guy to manage cba.

i'm not worried about them bringing in a 2nd AGM; someone with a hockey/scouting background. i think it's coming.

Especially without Lou around, they definitely need this guy but not sure it required a promotion because his previous role and his current role look the same. I haven't seen him involved with anything hockey related other than the numbers. He looks like a glorified accountant right now unless somebody can provide any info on what he knows about hockey.

I'd double Dave Taylor and/or Mike Futa's salary and bring in Ken Dryden as an executive.

for a good mix i think you need 2 distinct agm's: a lawyer/accountant/operations guy and hockey/scouting guy. seems like they had one too many roles under lou.

i wonder if they tap the junior leagues for the 2nd agm; someone who can take over running the marlies too.

They can get a CHL guy to look after the drafting and maybe run the Marlies but they really need at least one if not two experienced NHL guys.

I say Dave Taylor and/or Mike Futa because their drafting record with the LA Kings speaks for itself and made them a Cup contender and winner. They have experience and a proven track record that not many others can bring to the table especially when you consider in the past 10 years, only 4 teams have won Cups and all the other "architects" of those teams are either employed or no longer effective.

Right now, the most "experienced" guy is Cliff Fletcher and he lost his mind years ago. Shanahan may be smart and may be the President but even he isn't that experienced as a front office guy. That's why I suggest Ken Dryden. He's very sharp, he doesn't have a front office job but his experience with the Leafs the first time around should go a long way. And as an executive, he doesn't have to be in the limelight but can also have a better platform to push his "hits to the head" agenda he seems to be trying to push the past few years.

I believe you are correct.

There should be some really stupid articles coming out in the next couple of days. The doinks in the media will start pitching their theories and insider info
