I take a lot jabs in here about Polak, but I think he had a pretty good year and plays better then people give him credit for....I was the HB punching bag at the begin of the year when I said he'd probably sign and play ok....a lot of those posters don't come around much anymore or don't talk so badly about Polak now.
- Garnie

He was +3 with 4 hits in game 7

Keep him for #6/7

Leafs traded Roman (frank)EN Polak for two second round picks at the deadline, I would think that Gardiner is worth more.
- winsix

Don't forget the 4th liner that was included with Roman.....forget his name now.

edit: Sparling I think.....

Q: Would JVR sign a 'close to home friendly' deal with NYR for less than 6x6?

I'm guessing his market value after the Kane deal is ~6.5x6...

I think you're correct - JVR signs with his favorite team (as a kid) NYR

I'm not opposed I thought for his role Polak has a great season. Still they have Borgman, Rosen and Ozhiganov all ready to compete for the spot. Could be a sign they are ready to move on.

Interesting names, I think those are the type of value deals that seem more realistic. Actually looking at this mock roster I could see Bozak returning. I would like to turn the page from the Burke era finally though.
- Blazed

hopefully, won't cost too much. Offer them both a 3 yr deal for $7.5M total. I think they are the type of player we need

Nick Spaling, left winger playing in Switzerland. I heard Bergevin is scouting him heavily.

Honest question - do you mean Bergevin or is there a scout/executive named Bergeron?

Without a doubt. I think the only difference here is the ages you're buying up. And entire prime versus a year or two of prime and then a declining asset.

I don't see JVR signing a less-than-market deal with any team besides the Leafs and even that's a longshot. (I say the Leafs because he's been here 6 years and that'd count for something I'd imagine.)

Rangers cleared the deck last year. Lots of cap space $25 million. I would think JVR would be a second or third choice after JT and Carlson.

Yeah I could see that, two years younger. Still I think JVR is a 7 million dollar guy if Kane is.. not saying I’d sign him to that but just what he will be looking for now. Good for him, has been a good player for Leafs.
