it might come as a surprise to some of you, but Dubois doesn't like Andersen as his starting goalie.
Don't be too surprised if he trades Freddy to another team and tries and get a real top10 goaltender. - MaximusAurelius
Is that what The Geek told you?
It may come as surprise to you....but not many believe you. |

the only way any team takes Mason is if Winnipeg adds something to "sweeten" the deal. They don't have a first rd pick to trade, so it would need to be a decent prospect, or a young roster player. A 4.1M cap hit for a back up is a lot of $$ to take on. - PatC80

I highly doubt that. |

I think you guys are being a little hard on Nick Leddy here.
Sure he was -42 this year... and his team was terrible.... +/- is a stat largely affected by team performance.
And it's the first time he gets a stat that atrocious while producing regularely and playing big minutes for his team in the last few years.
He's not the greatest defenseman in the world but come on.... he's not THAT bad. - Scabeh
plays the left side.. so, pass... We don't need more LHD |

You could be right, I think there will be action at and prior to the draft and job number one should be building a solid defensive core. Gardiner still making horrible, costly mistakes. Mistakes are ok, making the same (frank)ing mistakes over and over not so much. - winsix
I think he just needs to be a sheltered #4/PP specialist. Sort of like the Bruins did with Krug - although I do think Krug is better defensively despite the size difference. |

a backup goalie, and a power play specialist? I don't know.. Bozak is a PP specialist as well.. Maybe if it is 100% certain, the bozek is not coming back... |

He's not that terrible no, but outside of Max I highly doubt any Leafs fan would trade him 1 for 1 for Gardiner. |

we're going to have all kinds of cap space (unless i'm mistaken and both carlsson and tavares sign here).
might has well use it and take on a bad 1-year contract, for a price. and i see orprik as a marlie, not a leaf. - Tumbleweed
We really wont have that much cap space. |

Still, though... 4.1M is a lot I think.. Maybe Mason and Brendan Lemieux for Sparks/Leivo/Carrick/Whatever. |

Hey, if they're desperate.
But I think some teams would take the caphit for a 2nd rounder no questions asked. |

For just next season they do, they have like 22 million and really just Nylander needs a new contract. |

I agree, if we trade him and don't get 2 more good D...we will be in the same boat.
He needs to be bumped down the list, he can't be in our top 2/3 D IMO.

and if they end up 10 million shy of the cap it would be shortsighted to not at least consider taking on a 1 year deal like that. |

I was under the impression that the Leafs were strapped with the sheer number of contracts in general. Or has that been resolved?
Idk - I forget when this was a topic of discussion. |

And we need to replace 6 players, sign Nylander and re up or trade carrick.
Not a lot of room.
Nylander will take up 6 -7 of that 22.
Barely any. |
