washington not starting with holtby against columbus was a pretty clear indication his time was coming to an end in washington.
after his playoff performance, maybe their gm thinks differently.
but they jerked around their starter and holtby may request a trade out of there. - Tumbleweed
Pretty much all the top starters have been pulled this playoffs. Schneider didn't start for the Devils.
Hotlby turned around and outdueled Murray the very next series. Washington would take step backwards without Holtby.

I swear people have the most unrealistic expectations of goalies compared to any other position.
So many goals are on the team with it being a team game, not necessarily the tender. Of course there are exceptions, but I feel the blame for poop play that winds up with the puck in the back of the net falls more on the goalie than the team in front of them when it really was the team that gave up too good of a chance for the goalie to be expected to save. - RickJames77
And in Ander5en's case, he bails the team out 90% of the time. He played at a Vezina level for months on end this season. I'm happy to have him |

Can't disclose that - MaximusAurelius
So the guy they acquired because he has a higher save percentage making saves on the type of shots babcock wants to allow in his system isn’t liked by dubas?
Sure thing.

that's what I"m saying - Tampa chose to keep Vasilevskiy over Bishop.
Bishop was traded to LA for the playoffs since Tampa was not going to offer him a new contract, and didn't want to let him go for nothing. - MaximusAurelius
I don't see anything about a trade here, but whatever you say.
"Washington might consider not resigning him - similar to TB with the Vasilevskiy and Bishop situation.." |

That's sort of what I'm expecting, but with Samsonov...the kid is apparently the real deal goalchie - RickJames77
Samsonov is on first year of an entry level deal (3 years) Caps are do not need to hurry with goalie. Sign Grubauer and wait for the rookie.

nj may have pushed schneider out too.
there's a difference between pulling a goalie mid-game and choosing not to start him game 1 of the playoffs. |

leafs should trade for grubauer's rights - a 2nd round pick and a decent roster player (leivo?).
then trade andersen and gardiner to nyi for leddy + 1st. - MaximusAurelius
Wow that is an absolute awful trade Also, Leddy sucked big time last year, you think he is better then Gardner? |

Luongo was definitely worth that.
He was one of best goalies in NHL last 15 years. - MaximusAurelius
all things being equal, probably not. the market for goalies generally sucks.
but he had full nmc and a contract to forever. his true market value was what florida paid. |

Leddy is way better than Gardiner, yes.
I was never a Gardiner fan, unlike some of you on here (most of whom then burnt him after game 7). |

Neither was Schneider, both Kinkaid and Grubauer were riding hot streaks and very quickly were passed over for the starter. |

next year schneider will 100% post better number with nj as starting goalie than freddy 'elite' andersen with leafs.
i remember when bob was playing badly for phi and i suggested to trade reimer for him - people laughed then as well.. - MaximusAurelius

some Leafs think that.
probably because Leafs' goaltending has been horrible for last 20+ years.
Andersen won't be top5 in Vezina voting. |

Trade Orpik and keep Carlson, 4 dman play more than Orpik. They don't have to move Holtby to keep Carlson. - Blazed
