leafs should trade for grubauer's rights - a 2nd round pick and a decent roster player (leivo?).
then trade andersen and gardiner to nyi for leddy + 1st.

- MaximusAurelius

We're trading Ander5en already? He's an above average tender. Let's at least give him one more playoffs with an improved D in front of him.

@ the Evander Kane contract
- BestRapperAlive

Agree - it's a putrid contract, maybe he was afraid that Blurrgevin was going to go $9 million for seven and convert him to play centre.

I swear people have the most unrealistic expectations of goalies compared to any other position.

So many goals are on the team with it being a team game, not necessarily the tender. Of course there are exceptions, but I feel the blame for poop play that winds up with the puck in the back of the net falls more on the goalie than the team in front of them when it really was the team that gave up too good of a chance for the goalie to be expected to save.

Trade Orpik and keep Carlson, 4 dman play more than Orpik. They don't have to move Holtby to keep Carlson.

washington not starting with holtby against columbus was a pretty clear indication his time was coming to an end in washington.

after his playoff performance, maybe their gm thinks differently.

but they jerked around their starter and holtby may request a trade out of there.

Seems like the stars have aligned to at least make it a possibility.

I personally have only seen him play a handful of times, but I've heard him described as the best goalie outside of the NHL. How that chalks up to the ones in the NHL remains to be seen I guess

it might come as a surprise to some of you, but Dubois doesn't like Andersen as his starting goalie.
Don't be too surprised if he trades Freddy to another team and tries and get a real top10 goaltender.

I know, but sometimes you have to take a risk and if they don't win this year their window has gotta be closing pretty quickly.

I don't know that they make it this far again without Carlson. I'm also making an assumption they can't afford to bring him back so if I'm wrong on that do let me know.

- RickJames77

Carlson will stay with the caps, they will sign Grubauer to a Matt Murray type deal and ship Holtby the way Pens shipped Fleury.

That's sort of what I'm expecting, but with Samsonov...the kid is apparently the real deal goalchie

not starting a goalie because of slumping, doesn't mean that his intrinsic value is down and the organization is thinking of trading him.
maybe in 2 years if Samsonov has had 2 great years backing Holtby up, Washington might consider not resigning him - similar to TB with the Vasilevskiy and Bishop situation..
However, Holtby is way better than Bishop ever was.

If somehow Holtby is available this off-season, trading for him should be top priority for Leafs.

These playoffs Holtby, Jones, Rask, Rinne, Hellebuyck, Vasilevskiy and Gibson have all been pulled. I think the Anderson hate is a little overblown.

Too bad the Seattle expansion draft doesn't come until 2020-21 - if they get these bums they will be (frank)ed for years! At least Rick James will be happy!

you don't (frank) around with your starter. you ride him out. an real easy way to run a goalie out of town.

it's basically the lu situation in vancouver, without the drama of nucks fans thinking that that lu was worth a 1st, gardiner and kadri.

that's what I"m saying - Tampa chose to keep Vasilevskiy over Bishop.
Bishop was traded to LA for the playoffs since Tampa was not going to offer him a new contract, and didn't want to let him go for nothing.

Luongo was definitely worth that.
He was one of best goalies in NHL last 15 years.
