I know I will get killed on here but...

I am not a big Babcock fan...

- Hockey_Reverend

I dont mind him...but not his biggest fan either.
I really like the gallant quote about accountability. Its stuck with me. Something babs could learn from

Hunter was getting paid 1 million a year to be an Assistant GM. I'm a little surprised he left. He won't find that anywhere else.

Was Dubas getting paid the same as Assistant GM?

Some might say because he's a professional and if decided to completely screw the Leafs he'd never get another NHL job again?

He had every reason to have another successful draft to boost his own negociating power.

But hey, I'm sure they had their reasons.

- Scabeh

Shanny mentioned it last night on TSN radio; Hunter offered to stay for the draft but he(Shanny) and Dubas thought it was best that they part ways now; Shanny made it clear, this is Dubas' team..

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but he's the best coach that I can ever remember coaching the Leafs going back to Pat Quinn. He's clearly improves players, and holds players accountable.

Also, he is considered to be one of the best coaches by his peers as well.

- Archaic

Sometimes how he holds players accountable could set the time back.
Nylander on the 4th line....not a fan

It's all day every day for the past year or so. It's little subtle digs on every topic, player, decision etc.

Fair play to him though, if you can, why not?

It's what did Bix in at the end.

- walshyleafsfan

Scabs, doesn't mean any harm though, it's just friendly banter; doesn't really take shots at people on the boards; Plus, he is a Habs fan.. So, it's ok to feel a little sorry for him, but only a little.

the thing is, he holds every player accountable.. from Andersen to Zaitsev;
Carlyle would only hold the crappy players accountable, he'd let Kessel get away with everything.

Scabs isnt like bix at all. Bix was cranky and drank too much blue koolaid. Wasnt open minded.
Scabs talks hockey and will get a jab in once in while, not argumentative or a hater.
Dont mind it all.

I dont know about that, to be quite honest leading up to that demotion, he was playing awful. Marner took it well and turned his season around for it.

Dubas should be calling Fenton every day for Coyle, he would be a good 3C here.

Q: Would JVR sign a 'close to home friendly' deal with NYR for less than 6x6?

I'm guessing his market value after the Kane deal is ~6.5x6...

Wonder why shanny/Dubas wouldnt want someone making decisions for the Leafs who is out the door?

His 200ft game really impressed me. Especially when he was on shut down duty with Plekanec in game 4 (i think it was 4?).

He reminds me of a skilled forward that has and will continue to develop some defensive capabilities as, dare I say, Marchand. You know without the licking and general douche baggery.

Marner's douchebaggery will come in the form of smiling; That's all the kid does, every single shift, he has an ear-to-ear grin.

Both are scoring wingers looking at long term deals.

Sure they're different kind of players but tell me you wouldn't bring that contract up if you were negociating for Nylander.

I believe his market value is right around E. Kanes despite the fact that Kane is a bit younger.

He did score 36 goals this year.

How else do you hold someone accountable in the NHL? Take away their Xbox?

Ice time and line situations is all a coach really has.

Coyle would be a perfect fit here; good size, decent skill and give us really good center depth;

Hyman-Matthews-Marner
Marleau-Kadri-Nylander
Johnsson-Coyle-Kapanen
Grundstrom- Bozak/Aaltonen/Gauthier/Whatever - Brown
