What don't you like about Beagle? Too old? Too expensive? |

For me he just seems like a dime a dozen player to which the Flyers have plenty. |

I like Beagle, good size, great on faceoffs, very good penalty killer and he has a bit of skill. If they can sign him to a 2 year deal, Id be fine with it. |

I'd actually like Roussel. Can kill penalties and plays a hard game. Especially if they do make a move with Simmonds. |

I hate the idea of Jay Beagle and what they plan on doing with him, but if they are determined to sign someone like that, I like him over most others. |

I like Beagle too but for some reason i feel he is going to get a little overpaid next season for some reason.
If that happens I wouldn't be against a guy like Kyle Brodziak. He is a year older then beagle but a solid 4th line center who can kill penalties. |

Well, first off, if Lyon has a very good playoffs and a strong preseason, you might lose him on waivers. If Lyon doesn't outperform the veteran goalies in camp and passes through waivers, then yeah, I'm fine with him and Hart at LHV and Stolie in the ECHL. - BiggE
Stolie, if re-signed to an NHL deal, can't be assigned to Reading next year. No longer an entry-level player, so he can't be assigned to the ECHL without his agreement. Different if he is on an AHL contract.

Bill,
What are your feelings on the goalies next year? Have to think Lyon pushed past Stolarz now in the depth chart. Obviously Hart is going to play in AHL. And you have two goalies signed in the NHL. I know things kind of sort themselves out but would it be wise to try and get Stolarz on an AHL deal so he can play heavy minutes and kind of regain his form in Reading and then convert it to an NHL deal if something happens? |

Can’t the phantoms carry 3 goalies? Sign them all. Start off with 3 in LHV. When neuvirth gets hurt call one up. They are all under the basic understanding that the 2 vets goalies are gone next year. So the logjam is for one year. |

Neuvirth won't be bought out. If he can be traded, Flyers probably sign a different vet, either as a tandem guy with Elliott or a lesswr vet (ala Tokarski) for Phantoms to split time early on with Hart (making Lyon the backup/ 1B to Elliott ) and be available for Flyers callup if needed. If Neuvirth stays, it will be status quo.
BTW, I couldn't see Neuvirth going to the Phantoms with a good mindset if he were waived and sent down. Not that he is a bad guy at all but he knows the key to another NHL contract after current one ends next summer is to play in NHL next season. He isn't going through surgery and all-new training regimen in British Columbia this summer to go back to riding the buses in AHL again.

pretty sure if a guy is on an AHL deal any other team can up and sign him to a NHL deal. |

They were saying on NHL Network yesterday that all the new college coaches have Hextall and Hakstol's success to thank for them being hired.

reading between the lines...do you think there is any chance they start the year with 3 goalies? Do you see them moving on from Stolarz?

unless Lyon looks good enough to get picked up on waivers. I think they can still get him through but he is definitely capable of playing an NHL backup role |

You'd figure that after putting in the time with Lyon and I guess Stolarz to a lesser degree that the club would try to give them a bit of a longer look at the NHL level.
Dont really agree with just giving that chance to Hart.
Neuvirth and Elliot cock blocking the kids is kind of meh if it happens. |

Neuvirth would be foolish to pout if he does end up in the AHL. Halak, who had a better career record, ended up down there and played his way back to the NHL. |

Everyone reacts differently. I could see him being pissed if he made every effort to fix his injury issues and then the team holds them against him by promoting Lyon and sending him down. |
