The Nucks got Jonathan Dahlen for Burrows. By the looks of it everyone thought it was Dahlin because many thought the Sens were insane to give him up. Dahlen was a big scorer in Sweden's Tier 2 league. Tier 2. As in, the second best league...in Sweden. - AlfieFever
Playing in Sweden in 2017–18, Dahlén was a leading contributor on offense as Timrå earned a promotion to the SHL.
That was a terrible trade for OTT. |

Well he did put up a point per game in that league last year and came over to play 2 games in the AHL, putting up a goal and an assist. Hes 20 years old.
You are trying to diminish the value in a 20 year old prospect, who just came over to the AHL and instantly put up points....right a throw away
Its funny how delusional and in denial some of you Sens fans are |

But Brassard is a by produce of trading Zibby. If the Sens would have stayed pat and didnt do what have have done twice and potentially a 3rd time in Karlsson, arguably they would be in a much better spot long term if they kept their own
Trade guys away to get an extra year or 2 of contract security bc they do not want to pay them their market value to resign and stay a Sen. Whatever Eugenes problem is...Alfie, Zibby, Turris, Karlsson, as soon as a guy doesnt want to take a pay cut he is out - DDM-Coga
I think it was more that they felt Zibby had reached his peak in terms of points but Brassard was known as a solid 2 way forward and comes up big in the playoffs. Which is what Ottawa was looking for.
Alfie... that guy gave up on the team twice now, so as far as I am concerned.... Good riddance. As for the other players you listed. I agree E.M needs to get hit sh*t together or the fans will continue to turn on him.

For two games. I admit the trade was terrible, and he is a good looking prospect.
But if Sens fans were using a sample size like that to tout a player that was still on the team, you'd be laughing at them. |

Also pretty sure he broke Filip Forsbergs record for points by a 19 year old in that tier 2 Swedish league. |

Steve Yzerman and Ron Francis were #4 overall picks. I expect nothing less from the Sens selection. - AlfieFever
A repeat of Tkachuck in Calgary, where he's a little later drafted, but turns into one of the better players in a draft with a highly touted first overall? |

I said he played 2 games, but he put up points instantly in those 2 games. Coming over to the AHL isnt easy so any line of production is encouraging, thats my point |

What was it...a 23 year old in Zibby for a 29 year old in Brassard? Thats just not a good move no matter how you look at it. |

hit a nerve, its just funny making posts look like this dumb.
A 20 year old prospect vs a 37 year old bottom 6 player who went on waivers "to wake him up"
Yeah Sens sure won that trade...so dumb |

That was a dumb move by Ottawa. Burrows is who he is and is very over paid. and Dahlen is looking like he could be very good |

So... - david22
Its just short sighted asset management.
a guy like Burrows is on borrowed time and you hope he helps out for a season or 2.
A forward 2nd round pick like Dahlin, is a high pick to invest in a guy, to give up on him early before hes 20..theres the potential of 5+ years of a guy like that impacting your franchise. The 44th overall is not a throw away asset |

I agree. It was a bad trade, made worse by the extension he was given.
My post above was just a joke about small sample sizes. |

2018 2nd round pick
2017 3rd round pick
for Brendan Smith. Who didn't exactly light it up in his time on the Rangers.
Seems bad trades are attached to that pick |

Oh right, smith deadline trade then extended him. I think he will be fine once away from AV playing under Quinn |
