Does JT deserve $12 million.

Do you want him on the team at that price?

- jimmc7722

I can easily see him getting that from another team. But, i think the isles get him 10 per for 8 years, and give him HUGE bonus' to boost him up, to make up that extra money.

The better question is does Lou Lamoriello bring Kovulchuk to the island being that 1, they have a history, and 2, Kovulchuk is a UFA?

I'm waiting to hear the specifics, but there's no doubt this is a good day for Islander fans.

And this is where we will disagree. I think Charles Wang hooked his boy up. Like "Hey thanks for letting me suggest we put a Sumo wrestler in net and not walk out. Here's guaranteed money for being a good soldier"
- kindlyrick

Fair enough. I don't want to go round and round with this. I do think Wang is nutty enough to give Snow a deal like that. I don't think the NHL would ever approve it.

Gallof back at it
tough thing that nasty element of reality. The fiction is that Garth is done... pushed by fans who are placated. So owners won. They add Lou, keep everything same, and fans ran right back

Not to mention : blaming fans??? Not even part of it. Fans getting appeased by Lou despite mixed success in TOR and in NJ post-CBA like he’s a miracle worker. Plus nobody said GM or coach out

Who better to groom his son for the future? Its very cool that they will get to work together, and I could see his son taking over within a few years.

It wasnt that long ago, matter of fact I think it was when L and M bought the team, that the notion around the league was that Snow was doing a good job. I think I read that somewhere. But, after this past season, it was the first time the league was scratching their heads publicly with regards to Snow. Writers, Hockey Analysts, etc were all wondering the same as us......how does this guy still have a job, and how are the isles not after Lou Lam.
I think it all boils down to ticket sales. They had to do something to improve ticket sales........so yes the fans have something to do with it. I don't believe the billboards (while i love them) had much to do with this.

They won a round. There was a little and I mean very little positivity that was soon squashed there after other than that this team hasn't had positive press unless you're referring to BD Blowhack.

I know this is directed at me so ill respond. Always trying to turn the screw unnecessarily . Quite funny and exhausting at the same time. You have a tendency to exaggerate a point while fabricating someone else's to make your own point. This is nothing new but it's tiring man it really is. It's like you want to debate about nothing for hours. You're like a woman.

Botta tweeted out that this only happened because of the fans.

The idea that my donation helped assure that asshats imminent dismissal makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Wasnt there some article out there that said L and M went around the league and asked other GMs about Snow?

Fair enough......you never know with Lawyers. I mean look at the front loading of contracts years ago......and the genius of it. Might I add that Lou Lam was the first to do so....

Wonder if Lou and Chia will have a special relationship like Garth and Chia had?

Anyone who has any reservations about Snows role, should be at ease. The fact that he was over sea's scouting while Lamoriello was meeting with JT says it all. I dont agree with Botta that the fans made this happen. Im sure it played a role, but when the entire league was basically doing their best to not laugh at this situation, it was painfully obvious what had to be done.
- kindlyrick

I doubt the fans made this happen entirely as well, but there is no denying that the fans’ angst and unhappiness was far more vocal and tangible than years past. In years past, the fans base would groan and more for 10 minutes then go back to taking it in the rear from management. This off season, it felt much different. The message was sent that the status quo of the past 12 yrs wasn’t acceptable.

I just think we finally have an ownership that is not satisfied with the status quo either, unlike Wang who was fine with mediocrity.

Not any worse than what we saw last year. But, a real GM trades someone like Brock Nelson as part of a package to acquire a top 3 dman, and then signs a UFA like Kovulchuk. Boom now you added D without taking away any offense.

Lou to the Isles is the best news we could have asked for. It took years of mediocrity and failure from Snow and Co. and a long overdue upswell of anger from the fans to force change, but it worked. The fact that the Isles and their fans can turn the page (finally) on Snow, on complacency, on mediocrity and a lack of desire to compete is tremendous.

I don’t know what this means for JT, but if he doesn’t want to come back to this organization with Lou running the show then so be it. Let him walk. With Lou in command, I’m far more comfortable with Lou in charge overseeing a potential post -JT era than I would have been with Snow overseeing things.

New arena on the horizon. Lamoriello running hockey operations. Things are actually looking up. I’m optimistic.

Yes. Such a stupid idea. Let me ask all my competitors to evaluate how my team is being run. Absolutely asinine.

It’s always about money. Wang didn’t need it as he knew all along he could move to urban Brooklyn and pump the value.....the same amount he basically said he was losing per year. Not a coincidence.
L and M however are about to break ground on a major project and will need the fans support via tickets sales, merch, etc.
I think this year when the ticket reps called the fans there was a horrific response. That’s what ultimately made this happen.
