Insane that if you sign JT to a $12M per, you can basically resign one guy for $4 or 5 mill and then are filling out the roster with whatever bargain deals you can.
- BINGO!

Pretty much. They're going to have to get creative, but I'm more confident in that now than ever.

They might be forced to give Ho Sang a roster spot next year.

Yea he just offered the best buyout I like Casey and cal but they are replaceable especially for what snow gave them. Have to think there are a couple of asterisks next to their names
- Upstate_isles

Lou's going to get Martin back with Toronto eating half his salary and the 4th line will be reunited and back in full swing

Lou's gonna be a busy guy.

If I had my way, Wagner/Johnston/Quine/Prince/Hickey/Seidenberg/Davidson would all be let go/dumped for nothing.

I'd like to trade Nelson, I just don't see it with him. He's got some value, not a ton, but I'd rather see him get a fresh start elsewhere.

I'd do everything in my power to get rid of Cizikas and/or Clutterbuck. I love Casey, but he's grotesquely overpaid for what he provides and his body isn't going to hold up too much longer given the way he plays the game. I think Clutterbuck is probably untradeable but I'd be fine offering some mid-round picks to entice a team like ARI to take him and that contract.

I'd love to dump Mayfield too. I could live with Pelech getting #6 defenseman minutes, but Mayfield is entirely useless.

I would not mind keeping just Johnston for his toughness and he actually showed he could play a little. I would also like to move Mayfield. I like Casey as well but have no issue moving him as well.

The bottom line is that Nelson although not a fan favorite, has very good value. He's basically a 25 goal scorer in this league, who's young, and has upside.

Im with you on everything else, and to me the only time to dump Clutterbuck is at the trade deadline to a playoff team looking to add a vet who can play special teams and bang up hockey.

As for Mayfield and Pelech.......if either of them never wore an isles uni every again, im fine with it.

I'd be fine keeping Johnston in the mix, but he belongs in the AHL and should only be called up if like 10 guys ahead of him on the depth chart are injured or they are expecting an especially chippy game.

In a Lou Lam organization, they NEVER draft a problem child like Ho Sang. Its going to be interesting to see what they do with Josh. I have a feeling he's gonna ultimately be shipped outta here sooner rather than later.

I'm fine with this chief. No sense in bringing back Martin when Johnston is cheaper and better at this point.

Clutterbuck's skillset is available from a laundry-list of players and his contract completely nullifies any value he may have otherwise (which isn't much). You can find an older vet on a league-minimum deal that expires after the playoffs to trade for, GM's don't need Clutterbuck and his abortion of a deal for four more years.

I do think Nelson has value, but I think his numbers make him look a lot better than he really is. He's consistently inconsistent and usually only scores during half of a season and then disappears for the other half. I don't know what he'd be worth as an unsigned RFA on the trade market, but I wouldn't expect a big haul for him and that's OK.

I agree, but on the other hand they are going to need all the cheap talent they can get their hands on if they manage to re-sign Johnny. Cap is going to be real tight and jettisoning cheap, young, talented guys would not be helpful.

I think Bellows is going to need at least a year in the AHL, if not two. His skating needs work and he's going to have to adjust to the speed of the pro game. Maybe a call-up here or there if need be, but I don't think he's a full-timer for a little while.

Dehaan and kuhlamin have value I think both would help this team in their own end tremendously

This is fine chief. No need to rush Bellows. I do not have an issue if Ho Sang gets another shot.

Dehurt will never stay healthy unfortunately and unless Kuli takes $2m or less, pass, can find guys cheaper to fill bottom 6

Hopefully a team like the Yotes will take Cal. Nelson I really hope gets traded. I had enough of Nelson.

Ho Sang absolutely deserves a shot to be a regular. He didn't do anything last season that useless idiots like Prince/Quine/Fritz/etc... didn't do regularly, yet he gets buried down in the AHL.

They were good when his skillset was on the third line and other teams had to respect his ability. He deserves to be here a hell of a lot more than the guys I mentioned. Maybe he's never going to be a top scorer, but that's ok.

Possibly but you need guy like 86 to play i'ln their own end and kill penalties two things the isles couldn't do

It's a shame with de Haan as I though he would be a nice 40-45 point a year dman. Just has not worked out with the injuries and his offensive game did not develop. No way I'm giving him close to a big deal. Kuli I would take back at the right price but I'm fine if he goes as well.

I think Kulemin may come back on the cheap. He's gotta know that, at this point, he's not a highly-compensated player. If they get rid of 53 and/or 15 Kulemin would be a great veteran presence to keep around on the 4th line/1st PK unit.
