laine wasnt even first line, which makes his production look worse. you go from being among the top goal scorers in the nhl and then put up the same production at even strength as brandon tanev?

matthews at least went head to head against the best, laine was able to hide behind wheeler/scheifle and still underproduced. the depth the jets had all year came up dry when it mattered most (yes i am a little bitter the jets lost )

Fluery was really the difference, not lack of scoring depth. you look at the goal scorers in the series for the Jets and it is distributed pretty much as esxpected. Ehlers is the big underperformer for them and hellybuck couldn't keep up.

Yeah... It really is too bad that their depth couldn't save them. I thought for sure before the series started that they would outclass Vegas.

Fleury is playing the best hockey of his career. One of the best goaltending performances I've seen in a while through these playoffs

I've been on TB all year (if they win, I win 1200 bucks ) but I really don't like Vegas in the finals, I thought they were going to lose each series and they keep proving me wrong.

Benning had lots of calls last year about Sutter's availability but Benning was not interested. Big balls and will be wearing the C

Tampa was my pick at the start of the year and mid season as well. When it came time in April to make a bracket I picked Nashville, thinking if Winnipeg beat them they'd win the cup. I had Vegas in the WCF but I honestly thought that's where their luck would run out

yes fleury was good but i was very disappointed in laine. hadnt watched him much during the season outside of highlights and thought he was just brutal. he didnt look dangerous at all, his average shot distance was from 37 feet away, didnt use his size to get involved

Didn't Matthews have like 1 goal 1 assist in 7 playoffs games

I just checked, 2 in 7 vs 12 in 17

They are both young, Laine will be a great goal scorer, but this is identical to the OV/Crosby comparison IMO. Some guys still prefer OV/Laine no matter what stats are out there. Both hall of famers, but center is so much more important to winning.

I guess we'll just have to see if Laine or Matthews wins a cup first then.

I can't tell if you really like Matthews or you really dislike Laine. Winnipeg made it 2 rounds deeper with Scheifele as their 1C. Do you think he's better or worse than Matthews?

Toronto's entire team couldn't hold the Jets jock strap . From goal tending out they just don't match up

You're not wrong, but I don't think saying "Laine got a lot of his points on the powerplay and I didn't like the rest of his game" is a valid argument for him being worse than Matthews when Matthews had 2 points in 7 games and his team lost in the 1st round

Personally I don't care if his points came on the PP or not 17 games 12 points.
