What are we talking about here? Where there is smoke, there is fire. Mike Richards doesn't have a job anymore due having a relationship with drugs, which might come from partying. If Mike Richards was serious about his hockey career, he would still be in the NHL today. I tip my hat to Laviolette for trying to get his team to focus on hockey. Maybe Lavy went about it the wrong way, maybe he didn't but as we sit here debating who's doing what now, Peter Laviolette is top three in my mind in the NHL today in terms of consistent success. As for not knowing who was going to be moved after signing along term deal, JvR should be more pissed than anyone. He was traded before his deal kicked in.

I won’t say you can label someone a opiate addict based on eyes from TV, but in person, it is fairly easy to tell if someone is on opiates/perks. Had 3 roommates and 2 were heavily addicted as well as having several friends taking that path. Pin pupil eyes is the easy one as mentioned. But paleness, irritations, face marks from picking, difference in weight are just a few. You don’t need to be in the medical field to make these observations. Then again, you’d also have to be exposed to it to have this understanding.

You can't protect everyone. So some teams are going to lose players with talent.
Who currently has more talent on their roster? The Knights or Flyers?

- PLindbergh31

Right now the Knights have a team witb a goalie plating out of his mind along with a great team structure..

Nah..Flyers suck cause Vegas is in the finals.

Pinpoint pupils are a sign of an opioid overdose, not an addiction or normal usage. What's the other hallmark sign of an opioid overdose, along with pinpoint pupils? Google that answer (because I know you'll have to google it), keeping in mind this guy was apparently playing professional hockey while overdosing on painkillers. Hint: the other hallmark sign might make it hard to do so

The fact that you looked at this guy's eyes on TV and diagnosed him is incredibly forward thinking and cutting edge. You must be a well published doctor affiliated with a large, credible quaternary care medical center, huh?

- Giroux_Is_God

It wasn't one tv interview. It was several. As well as pics posted by local girls on the flyers page. It's not really even debatable. The guy got caught at customs with the pills.

I've had family battle this demon so I recognize the face. Those pinned tiny pupil eyes are an easy notice but then the other things coincide which you've said.
If the beat medical experts can't recognize it they aren't the kinda medical staff you want. And I'm sure the flyers medical staff kept him pain free as most players do. Sadly Richie could never come back from it. It's sad

It's not debatable that Richards had an issue. It is however debatable that you were able to diagnose him through the TV. Credibility is not on your side here.

Are you now suggesting that the Flyers medical staff treated Richards with Opiates and contributed to his issue?
