So man up and tell us what your account name was back then?
The idea that the trades were made due to partying were as ridiculous now as it was back then. Numerous players including Danny Briere objected to dry island and it was a big mistake by Laviolette. Nobody thought they were getting traded after being signed to long term deals. The idea that you could look at his eyes and diagnose a condition from that is laughable and absurd. - MJL

It may have been mcphillthy or givemethedamncup. I really dont remember but I specifically remember arguing with you about it. I'm not stirring anything up but since the topic was brought up it brought back memories. I deal with people who struggle with painkillers and was trying to tell people about him but nobody believed me. Either way I'm ecstatic abkout the trade but sad that one of my favorite flyers through away his career for that. But that trade is the trade that keeps on giving now that we got 2 firsts for schenn and one of them is Morgan frost. It just makes me feel warm and fuzzy to still be reaping benefits from that trade.

I think I've stopped by 4 out of five days.
You're welcome.
I actually saw that error after I posted and just let it go. Sad but true.
P.S. "4 out of five" -- you really should pick numerical or word. Mixing them could cause rifts in space time. - Mononoke

What are we talking about here? Where there is smoke, there is fire. Mike Richards doesn't have a job anymore due having a relationship with drugs, which might come from partying. If Mike Richards was serious about his hockey career, he would still be in the NHL today. I tip my hat to Laviolette for trying to get his team to focus on hockey. Maybe Lavy went about it the wrong way, maybe he didn't but as we sit here debating who's doing what now, Peter Laviolette is top three in my mind in the NHL today in terms of consistent success. As for not knowing who was going to be moved after signing along term deal, JvR should be more pissed than anyone. He was traded before his deal kicked in. |

Its pretty obvious the poon crew at the time had issues with partying.
Carter matured, Richards did not. Hopefully he gets help. |

Not even the most expert of Doctors can diagnose anyone from seeing them on TV, so unless you had direct contact with Richards at any point in time while he was a Flyer, making the statement that he had "opiate" eyes doesn't do much for your credibility.

It's a distinct look in their eyes. I told you then and I'll tell you again. You apparently still don't get it 😂

really not an accurate way to state the situation. I'd say players that their old respective teams were willing to lose before other players within their organization. Really think the Flyers aren't going to want a player like Hagg for the next expansion? that's the quality of player they could lose. - nastyflyergirl
You can't protect everyone. So some teams are going to lose players with talent.
Who currently has more talent on their roster? The Knights or Flyers? |

Pretty obvious based on what? The modern day technology of being able to take cell phone pictures of young single pro athletes engaging in a social life and having it posted on the internet?
Mike Richards had very strong seasons as a Flyer where he excelled as a smaller player that didn't have elite skills that made himself into a top NHL player and awarded the captaincy of an NHL team, but yea, he didn't mature.
This is another post you've made in a long list of posts concerning the Flyers that has zero credibility behind it. |

Can you name any other credible source who knew before the news surfaced of Richards issues with pain killers that knew at the time based on this distinct look in his eyes that he had this problem?
I'm never going to stop calling out nonsense when I read it.

Well this is where you lost me. Do I think they partied? Yes! I don't think the Flyers ever had a great matinee game while Richards and Carter played here.
Do I think Carter matured and Richards didn't? I don't know. I think one got caught and the other didn't.
Heck, I went to Columbus shortly after Carter was traded from there. The security guard watching the player's garage door had Jeff Carter stories and Carter only had a cup of coffee there. |

Homer loved Richards. I think his hand was forced slightly by Snider. Not sure how much the partying weighed on the decision.
That summer was the last summer before the NTC kicked in for both players. That was the biggest factor in my mind. Add that to the emergence of Giroux and Richards/Carters poor numbers against Crosby,Toews and Bergeron H2H in the playoffs were the deciding factors. Homer traded both because he knew Carter could not handle playing without Richards. Just my opinion. |

I don't see any of these being deciding factors of both players being traded an hour apart. Especially one not being able to play without the other. |

The failure here to support your claim is not unexpected. Surely you're not the only one on Earth with this talent to recognize this distinct look in a person's eyes seeing them on TV. There has to be some expert somewhere who can support this claim that Richards had this distinct look in his eyes.

Pinpoint pupils are a sign of an opioid overdose, not an addiction or normal usage. What's the other hallmark sign of an opioid overdose, along with pinpoint pupils? Google that answer (because I know you'll have to google it), keeping in mind this guy was apparently playing professional hockey while overdosing on painkillers. Hint: the other hallmark sign might make it hard to do so
The fact that you looked at this guy's eyes on TV and diagnosed him is incredibly forward thinking and cutting edge. You must be a well published doctor affiliated with a large, credible quaternary care medical center, huh? |
