The old NHL expansion rules allowed existing teams to protect 15 players. These new insane rules allow teams to protect eight or nine players depending on what positions they chose to protect. Also for every NHL team to expose one top six forward and one top four defenseman along with a handful of top prospects and talented goalies. Vegas was given a 30 and 40 goal scorer. A former first overall pick and Stanley Cup winning goalie. A handful of tops 6 forwards and a deep talented young defensive group. This whole situation is absolutely nauseating to any real hockey fan Who 11 months ago had to watch a prime assess the stripped from their organization and now watch a new absolutely undeserving franchise in the Stanley Cup finals

No of course not. This does not look like a Stanley Cup team in October and it probably still doesn’t. I can’t take anything away from the players who absolutely play harder than anyone in this league, or the coach who is an absolute genius. It’s the process that I am livid about. My Islanders weren’t going to win anything this year regardless but I am a hockey fan first and as a fan of the sport there were franchises like Nashville Winnipeg and San Jose who have spent years building their teams to become a Stanley Cup contender playing by the rules that the league had in place and they were clearly bent, twisted and Manipulated so a new team could be good right away

well the 500 mil entry fee had something to do with that ....16.6 mil per owner

Where you’re wrong is in that teams chose to give up these players. They were faced with a difficult decision in many cases where it was one valuable asset retained over another
- BringNYIhome

That is my point, but are you telling me that giving up Smith and Marchessault to protect one player was the best that FLA could do? There is making the best of a bad situation, and then alot of teams actually made things worse for themselves.

Because every piece of what I said is factual
- BringNYIhome

Wrong. Every bit of what you said was complete falshood.

They got to protect 15 back in 2000. In 2017 they got to protect 11 plus all two year or less pros. Edmonton essentially had 16 on the protected or exempt list. So Vegas got to chose from 4th liner and cap dumps. You are completely lying here.

i think the difference was that was 2 teams from 28 teams vs. 1 team drafting from 30.

the thing i didn't see coming was the amount of depth they accumulated. some of guys they picked up sucked, but they had so many kicks at the can it didn't matter.

All the hate is too funny,my team didn't make the playoffs but it doesn't mean I'm gonna hate the new team with all the success. I hope Vegas takes the cup just to watch all the whiners complain on here. Vegas may not have all star talent outside of Fleury, but they beat the Jets who were darn good this year, that Vegas team HAS all the talent it needs to get the job done and that's all that matters. Go Knights !

Ya Think... Vegas got to Rape every team for players... I guess the Mob wanted to make sure they are successful. Lets see if Seattle gets the same breaks.. Not hating, they WON their way in.. The bolts/rapist SCF series will be blast.

It's funny how you put rapist in your statement, when your team name is the Predators, Instead of that pretty women you got under your name, you should put a picture of Bill Crosby then you will feel more comfortable calling other people rapist & he will match your team name...

That is a difference. But both teams made official deals to protect certain players as well. And Doug MacLean has said countless times there were a lot of behind the scene nudge nudge wink wink deals happening. And it was actually from 26 teams because Nashville and Atlanta had their entire rosters protected

it just prove one thing.... a lot of 3rd and 4th line player can be as good as the superstar in this league.... but they don't have the ice time because of theses stars in front of them.... ok to have a Fleury in the net help a lot but they have really good young players.... they deserve it i guess !

Let the band wagon commence. Not since the Dallas Cowboys of the 90s have I seen such a band wagon. I mean it's bad enough that most of the fans don't really understand hockey in vegas. And all the celebrities are all the sudden Golden Knight fans. Ugh
This team was built built on the bad decisions of 30 GM's. Not making hockey trades or under or over valuing certain players. It's all their fault.
But in the end this won't last. Too many players having career years who need contracts. And all those prospects they drafted last year will take 3 years or so to develop. Which means they are going to come crashing back to earth with a thud. And I can finally forget about hockey in Vegas.
