It’s too early to tell if adding Vegas to the league is beneficial. Of course it is in the short term, due to the influx of expansion fee dollars, but at the end of the day it is yet another team to split revenues.

We’ll see how the franchise does after this short term illusionary team is gone.

I will give Bettman credit, he did stack the deck in their favor by implementing the rules for this particular expansion draft.

It's not too early to tell. They've already built a strong fan base. At the end of the day it's yet another team to add revenue to the league.

Modern hockey.

Speed first and foremost. Great goaltending.

Flyers could learn something from them.

winnipeg had no room in the 3rd...vegas just pressured everywhere.

Give it time. The special draft rules implemented are meant to cover it up in the short term.
- StepfordSam

In what way?
They have a legit number 1 goalie in his prime still and are built around speed.

Vecchione scores in OT and they wave it off!

What was the reason for the no goal ruling?

I am very happy for Vegas.

For sure they got

To pick a fast team from scratch, a team that was picked for today’s NHL. They would have no real baggage and could start with a championship Goalie, all good

- wcorvette

They received some excellent players because many of the leagues GM's did a terrible job of protecting their assets . Plain and simple.

I’m skeptical it will last in a town like Vegas. We’ll see what happens.

Man is this ever Gary Bettman's NHL. Tampa Bay versus Vegas lol.
Boy did Paul Maurice get out-coached!
He had the better/deeper team. They played a little too soft.
There's a reason it's a team sport and Gerard Gallant has them all playing wonderfully.

True, Panthers in shambles
- BiggE

Don't get it twisted. Gallant was run out of Florida. With Vegas he got a clean slate. A knapsack of undesirables from the rest of the league and heaps of picks to build out a base with. The only true household star name they had is the goalie. A roster of kids looking to prove themselves and define their careers. Also think about the expectations for Vegas heading into the season. Nobody had them inked for the SCF.

From what I could gather from the broadcast is that they said it didn't go in. The announcer said the replay showed it clearly went under the bar while I believe the refs said it went off the crossbar.

The announcer the for the Phantoms is not very good.

Went to both games this weekend. Sanheim and Myers both looked fantastic but more ans more tired as the game went on. Not a lot of other solid options on the blue line for the phantoms.

Didnt think Aube-Kubel or Lindblom made enough of an impact. Was especially surprised Lindblom didnt do more.

With expansion draft rules set up the way they were and having to protect players on NMCs, and some teams needing to dump salary, teams were going to lose good players. But yeah, some teams made some bad choices and even doubled down on those bad choices.
