Do you really hate the hire?
- TPC

I don't hate it. Just not optimistic. I don't like how they circled back to him after he "reportedly" said no the first time.

Yea I just take it as he really wanted to stay at BU. Maybe he is just a loyal guy.

Down to only 5 more 2018 postseason wins needed for Tampa to have them, including in part, "Rangers South" win the Cup, and to also turnover to the Rangers their 1st Round Pick in the 2019 Draft, instead of the originally dealt 2nd Rounder.
That, as per that 2019 conditional 2nd Round pick in part, which was traded to acquire McDonagh and Miller prior to the deadline, becoming a 1st Rounder instead, should the Lightning win the Cup in 2018 or 2019.
Let's Go Lightning! "Rangers South" deserves a Cup win, starting in key with that former first back line pairing combo of McDonagh, and the long time hockey warrior himself in Girardi.

But then if you "just take it that he really wanted to stay at B.U.", that, in effect, is him being more loyal to wanting to remain at B.U., than being loyal to the Rangers from the very start.
After the initial interview at around the end of April or so, Quinn reportedly told his friends that he was still going to remain at B.U. That, plus his past known words saying, only "SOMETHING SPECIAL" could only have him leave the "best job there is in hockey", combined with his delay as if a head coaching job with the Rangers may not have been so SPECIAL ENOUGH, were both wonders if he wanted to seriously be here.
That's why I, and I believe as the case was with Tom, both disliked the Rangers serious consideration of him late last night, due to his stalling tactics and indecisiveness, including myself questioning if he had really even wanted to leave B.U. to make the jump to the NHL. I had him as my 3rd option behind both Reirdon and Keefe had either become available soon, of which Keefe had dropped out of the picture a couple days ago, leaving to me, Reirdon as the best potential choice if available.

we don't know exactly what went on, just because Larry Brooks reported "friends of Quinn's said he is staying at BU" that means absolute dog poop

He was loyal to BU and said he thought it would be last place he's ever coached. He will be a good coach for NYR. Lets just hope the loyalty he had for BU becomes the same for NY

Babckock is planning on retiring!? It's not like he's old or something
- rrentz

Everybody has a shelf life. AV has a pretty good win % and isn’t old either. Dubas is young and friends with Keefe. Not saying it happens this year but I’m sure they want to keep him for same reasons Rangers wanted him.

I don't even remotely understand how the negotiation to get him will affect the job he does the next 5 years, positively or negatively

Remember hearing : taking a nhl experienced guy either asst coach or head ?
Now we are in the college ranks with aguy who never won a thing ?
great way to hold your values up ,guess theres no experienced guy to fix
the mess Gorton is building , at least a 2 -3 yr plan , no way F A want to come to
a unknown college guy? were done for next yr or 2-3 if we hire an unknown who
dosnt know lg. ,players , ..etc ...DOOMED to an overhaul with no end in site ...

what a shame ,my 5 pt re start would have us in top 10 in lg.

Gorts wants a phoenix to rise up ...

it will & does take time , he wants it to be all his doings .....no gaurantees it works

It matters to some b/c they think that if he didn't originally "jump" at NYR initially then he really didn't want to come.

I think those who feel that way gotta realize that he has family, and a decision as big as this isn't to be taken lightly.

He seems to be just what our young players need

So your saying that Gorton wants to do what every new GM in every sport since the beginning of time wants to do...put his stamp on his team. OMG the end is coming!!!!!!!!

IF they did, which I heard different accounts, kinda would think they would have waited to at least interview him..no? Is there any reports that Keefe said no to an interview w/ NY?

Some of his positives are, while at BU he recruited very good players.

Classic Ranger fan move to "dislike" a coach before it's even been formerly announced by the organization. I could have called that one.

Hire MSL as an assistant
- TPC

Rangers previously offered ST LOUIE the wolf pack job but he declined. From what I understand he coaches his sons high level bantam team and probably won’t get back into the NHL till his son goes to juniors, prep school or college

So, because he’s not known by you, he’s an “unknown college guy”? Who the (frank) are you?
We don’t need to worry about being top 10 this year. If he is someone who can teach young players to grow into the next level of the game, you know like a college guy, then we will be in the top 10 for years to come. Without stupid mortgaging of the future.
