Wilson in the top 6 = no. He is perfect for the 4th line. Even if Botts goes into the next season with the exact same set of players, I would rather give CJ Smith or Bailey a good, honest look at 2nd line LW.

It will be interesting to see what they end up doing with Mitts. He could be anywhere from 1st line LW to 2nd or 3rd line center. What they do with ROR (if anything) will really determine where Mitts plays.

Right now, the best LW on the team is Scott Wilson. There's no chance they go into the season like that. FA or trades will happen

Personal 2 cents is that Mitts needs an extra 10-15lbs in muscle, core and legs mostly. These NHL players are tough sobs and you have to fight to win every battle. Last year, I saw some great things. His stick handling, especially in tight spaces, is exceptional as is his creativity. Still, he lost a lot of board battles by being out muscled. Get some pounds on him, ease him into his role by keeping Ryan O next season at least and watch the fun.

He's going to be special, I'm just not sure how soon. Great read MP. Keep em comin'.

So you do not see Mitts being transitioned to the wing (potentially) to fill that hole if no FA acquisitions can? Sorry if you already answered this, don't see anything.

Maybe. I think Eichel, ror and mitts down the middle is the way to go, personally

Depending how you look at it, I guess either ROR, Mitts or Erod is the best LW. I think they'll try to add some legit LW scoring though

During his brief cup of coffee with the Sabres, Mittelstadt's skill-level and hockey smarts showed he belonged and after the season he said that those six games gave him a pretty good idea as to what he needs to work on this summer to, in his words, "get better for next year."

I love this. A lot of people don't understand the merits of the end of the year callup despite whether or not they "earned it". Most cases, earning it is necessary (imo) but doing the 5 or 6 game taste gives the player a great idea on how to improve their game for continued success in the NHL.

I bet JB will be thrilled to walk into the season with a collection of those guys slated for the wing.

I think we better look for some trades.

McCabe, sharks 2nd and Bailey should get us a really nice player, and it wouldn't hurt too much

True, but people will complain about his scoring. I'd love for them to get him a legit LW.
- jcragcrumple

If O'Reilly and Wilson are together, than they are the 3rd line, and Okposo Mitts and E-rod are getting the top 6 minutes (More O zone starts)

Currently disgusted. I am confident the position will be addressed. And will lose a lot of confidence in JB if he doesn't fill the need. Which I think he will.

Scott Wilson was worth a 5th round pick. No one's over exaggerating his value. Everyone knows what he is. Housley had no choice to roll him in the top 6. Sadly, he was usually better than Pouliot. I'll remain patient until the first week of July.

Quite the bandaid approach. But I wouldn't be opposed to a 2x5M deal. Anyone hear about the Sabres having an interest in Vanek?

I was never a vanek fan, but he adds a respected nhl LW for nothing but, $

Bandaid or not, hes a good fit with the pommer and jbotts connection.

Why wouldn't he sign here?
He signed in Detroit and Vancouver, 2 non playoff contenders.

2 for 5 million sounds right.
