So we are ok with trading for P. Kane but when I bring up Kessel (more realistic) I get shamed cause he’s half a year older....

The real difference is that Kessel is fat...

He had an amazing year this past season, and most of the Penguins fans thought he was done after the prior 2 seasons before this one.

if p kane was from canada this wouldn't even be a thing.
- Sabresfan-365

If Kessel were Canadian, he would have won the Conn Smythe last year instead of Crosby

If anything I’d want him more....

I meant for the buffalo crowd from buffalo. He would just be another overpaid guy on the downside of his career

Pronger never came out and said he will not play anymore though. This is some BS.
- Mentalorgasm5

He did but didn't

Same thing applies here.

Until Hossa and the Blackhawks say he will never play again means he goes on LTIR

I am not going to take a report from a translated interview that never quoted anything Hossa has said.

Same thing with Pronger he side stepped the word retirement

I mean Pronger worked for the NHL before his actual player contract was up

A question for all you guys that want to trade Risto, I have a couple of questions for you:

1) Who is going to be our #1 RHD - Bogo or Nelson?

2) Which Sabre is actually going to hit and irritate someone? With Foligno gone, Nolan sucking and Falk likely headed to Rochester, Girgs becomes our heavy hitter.

3) Who is going to play his minutes? Assuming Bogo is hurt after 8 games, who is going to play Risto and Bogo's right-handed d minutes?

So, we are contemplating to trade from an area of weakness (RHD) our best asset in order to get a "fast scoring winger" for Jack. How about trying guys like EROD, Baptiste, Bailey or CJ Smith in this position before we go out and make stupid trades that will result in creating massive holes elsewhere.

I could see Chicago wanting Risto, but you're not getting Kane for him

The Sabres would need to move ROR for blue line help then...looking at you Carolina

Risto Nylander and 32nd overall for Kane

ROR for Faulk

- Stripes77

Ror (2 million kept per year) nylander, scandella and next years protected 1st.

For
Kane

I'm not moving risto unless its imperative

John Vogl at the BN did a nice piece on the sabres shooting woes.

It's well worth the read, but here's one fact

- jcragcrumple

Pretty tanky I'd say

Kessel is not from buffalo. The lure of the hometown guy, future hof'er.

There's no shame in wanting kessel. Good player

People need to stop trying to retain Salary in trades. Especially with players with 5 more years on their term.

I want no one on this team long term who’s over the age of 26 or 27 currently.

We need to build for a window of 10 years, not 4-5.

No to Kessel, Kane, and Tavares is on the edge (I’d still take him)

People need to stop posting unrealistic trades. If Chicago is moving kane, it's a salary cap issue. So why would they move 10.5 and take on a lesser player at 7.5?

I added some young guys also, again: cap reasons and ecl contracts

You make a few decent points, but you lose it all at the end. You can't suggest trying an assortment of bottom 6 forwards on the top line, but playing anyone else on the top pair is irrational.

I'd go even younger than that. The core of this team is all early 20s/late teens. If you want that 10 year window, you need guys coming in who haven't entered their prime yet, otherwise you're just wasting good years.

Not saying they shouldn't add in prime players, but all the heavy investment should go into guys who haven't peaked. If you've invested correctly, that number ends up looking like a steal when you're ready to compete, and gives you more flexibility.

If I am Botterill I am not eating any salary in a ROR deal. That is dead cap space when he will need it the most.

Bogo sure I would eat some there but ROR not a chance unless the return was crazy high
