The Jones for Johanssen trade was before the Hall trade (nice trade though, good value for CBJ getting a number 1 RHD)

I'll give you the Droin Sergachev trade though, that happened after. Not sure Sergachev had even played an NHL game yet though so there was risk.

Leafs will be forced to give up Nylander for a quality D. I can deal with that, as long as it's a quality D. Otherwise, sit tight . . . which is what it sounds like Dubas will do with his comments about his young D on the Marlies.

i just don't think that one bad trade sets the market. both gm's in a trade need to perceive that they are getting some form of equal value, or gm's just won't make trades anymore.

I want to be optimistic, but they aren't almost done. They need another scorer or two, another defenseman who is good in his own zone and can move the puck decently, and finally HOPE that Carter Hart is the real deal. That is probably 2 seasons away, but I definitely hope I'm wrong, and all of that happens this off-season.

Nashville's done well with Johansen. They needed a big #1 C at the time and dealt from a position of wealth on D. Jones had the better year individually for sure, but I think both teams filled a need.

Someone needs to explain why Jack Johnson is even coming up here. They tried to unload him at the draft and no one wanted him. The only time he's been relevant since his days on the Kings was when his parents blew all of his money. If he's getting signed, it's gonna be for next to nothing. Why not post a blog about where Polak might sign next year?
